I'm curious as to why people want a SAM, the katana wielding variant anyways, to be a DPS role specifically.
Because apparently unlike other MMO's, Tanks are not solely meatwalls and are more akin to frontline fighters more than anything.
For me anyways to put a SAM, the japanese equivalent of a Knight or WARRIOR, on the back of an enemy next to a NIN(assassin/thief/archer caste), is just so thematically wrong I cannot possibly comprehend how anyone would want that. SAM's have a known code of honor that is apart of their identity; Bushido. It literally means the way of the WARRIOR.
DRG I can understand since they developed their craft through approaching Dragons at different angles(jumps) so are more at home to striking an enemy from an advantageous position but SAM? Historically AND fantasy-wise, I've always seen them as brave, proud WARRIORS who challenged their foes head on in fair and square combat. Victory through skill rather than trickery sort of deal.
I personally would find it very jarring to see SAM get crushed by the tank classes in Duels because I see them belonging to that group. I say this but I will enjoy crushing ya'll dirty SAM DPS fanboys under my glorious viking heel(WARRIOR).
