It would be cool to get upgrades for your apartment room for an increased cost. I would pay a Million gil for the first upgrade if it gave it a second floor. I'm sure that this is an inevitability, but it more than likely won't actually be possible to release until 4.1, since they probably want to render several varied layouts for "upgraded" apartments. It would be cool if they implemented a terrace for one of the apartment upgrades in order to allow players to use outdoor furnishings (The terrace would be instanced of course).
Adding extra rooms isn't really needed. You just need to increase the space, and rooms can be made (we have walls and doors for a reason). As for how much room, a good 30% would be nice. Nothing insane but I'd agree the rooms are a bit cramped.
The apartments are very small.
I do not own one, but I do think they should of had at least one adjoining room to them.
Mind you I am used to having entire WARD sized lot of land to create in....so all the housing here seems extremely small/cramped and it is extremely limiting from a design and creative standpoint .... (yup... extremely ^^)
I hope the add an extra room one day for those that do want a bit more space. Those that don't need more space then be happy..but that's no reason not to support those that want more then a box ^^
ps SE: ALL housing still waiting for an item limit increase!
The apartments are good enough to allow players without FC houses to use the housing feature till there is more space in the wards. It's so small because the supply is so high and because it's permanent.
But I can imagine SE could introduce apartment upgrades for monthly fees and put it in the mogstation like the retainers.
Do you really think SE is going to continue increasing ward sizes til everyone has a house, now that apartments have been introduced and they can just increase the number of rooms?
With housing demolition starting again and apartments being added - I doubt wards will be increased.
From SE standpoint, everyone can have a room now, so no need to increase the servers to add more wards for houses when people can fight over those being demolished.
Apartments WERE their solution. Thats it. Thats what we get. Hence why people are a little dissapointed they were just a copypasta of the FC system and not their own thing.
With a little more effort SE could have further bridged the gap between apartment ownership and housing ownership.
It's actually a really nice size for a single person apartment. Especially, at the current pricing compared to the normal housing. The only real negatives are the windows, the cieling light, and the limit of fifty items with the item limits being the most common complaint across all housing types as being too small for for most player's liking.
I am just not exactly sure what took them so long to introduce apartments if they are nothing more than FC rooms without a FC? (Well after all they needed months to have a switch between FC and private houses so maybe its really hard or they dont work onto it till its nearly time...who knows) At one side I am happy that they at least gave us something like that..at the other hand I also fear that now they will be like "welp thats enough rooms, no more wards after that"..I am still hoping that one day, they will give us our own little isle where we could upgrade our house if we want to..but for now I was at least able to decorate another room.
The option to buy an additional room with in-game currency would be a nice addition for those players that would like more space.
I did see the suggestion of making extra rooms available through the Mogstation for a monthly 'rent', but that pretty much defeats the idea of your apartment being a permanent home for your character that isn't subject to demolition. I think a one-off payment should suffice. And why do people always suggest the Mogstation? This game isn't FTP and a gil-sink would probably be beneficial to the economy.
I think the option to purchase a balcony/terrace that can accommodate a large planter and allow some plant-crossing might be nice, too.
