I'm surprised SE hasn't addressed this yet. Please give the OP a thumbs up. It should help to alert the developers. :)
I didn't even know they were different colors!
While I can see the circle in the image, I do have trouble discerning some colors from others.
And just to put this out there, yes, women can be colorblind too. A lot of people think it's only men who are affected, but women are too!
I remember way back when enemy attacks and AOE's were a blood red color. I'm pretty sure they changed it because a lot of color blind players were having a very hard time seeing it. I can guarantee you when the right person sees it they will definitely fix it! :)
As a fellow color blind gamer. I do occasionally see the same problem occurring. Sometimes you may find adjusting the map transparency helps.
A few options for aoe markers and things like that would help a lot though. Personally the biggest problems I have are in shiva ex and Thordan ex.
Shiva everything looks blue even the aoe markers and it's a real pain. To see if I'm in or out of them. And Thordan can be the same with far too many red markers going on at once especially when the floor itself turns to a kind of reddish tint.
Place of the dead can also be an issue. Where the icons to mark traps can be near invisible to me on some floors.
If you are sick of having to hover your mouse on the map in order to locate the circles, take a quick screenshot and paste it on some editing software like Gimp (free) and change the hue, or even go for black & white.
It's still a pain, but at least when you get a hide and seek quest with multiple circles, it should make things easier until they finally release some colorblind modes. If they ever do.
If you have trouble distinguish colors during gameplay, I think the nVidia control panel allows you to change the hue and vibrance of colors. Might result in funky things, but if it allows you to see some AoE better, heh, might as well do that. (I don't know for ATI cards tho'.)
I've been trying to get them to look into colour issues for a long time. I'm not colour blind but even I have issues with certain markers at times, like a buff marker on sand, they're almost identical!
They need to make all telegraphs & markers adjustable for colour & border.
If you're on PC and tech savvy enough or know someone who is, set up SweetFX, a shader injector for post-processing, and use the plugin from this demonstration video. Until SE gets their stuff together, this is probably the best you'll get.
I think they should just make all video games from here on Deliberately Monochrome so that colorblind people won't feel cheated.
Also, having to use all these controls is awkward and cumbersome and prone to mistakes. Why can't all my games just read my mind and know what I want to do? What about the gamers without any limbs? What are they supposed to do? Bash their heads on a keyboard and hope they manage to make the correct inputs to defeat Ser Douchebag?
While we're at it, why don't we remove the ability to customize the HUD. Customizing that is a luxury after all.
Oh and keybinds. You should be able to play the game with the preset key bindings the developers come up with. That's the way it's meant to be played.
Really though, why?
All I'm asking for is a new option that'll help me a ton, yet won't affect you in the slightest.
And then you have to pull out the sarcastic "entitled-colorblind-people". Kind of a jerk thing to do, no?
