I agree, I've suggested this in other threads before. It's the one thing I really just don't like about Machinist is the lack of control over Wildfire given that it is such a key element to damage output.

Well, that's the kind of thing that is corrected by fight knowledge. It's not really that different than using a buff right before a phase change where the boss becomes untargetable/invulnerable.
I think this could be saved for a future expansion.
Machinists could be given a new attack that, if used during wildfire, gets a big potency boost and detonates Wildfire instantly.
Manual detonation? Yes, please. To many cases where Wildfire was wasted T_T
That seems an awfully button-bloated way to fix an oversight. Not to mention that it'd then be an awful lot like Deathflare, but with a slightly different sense of compromise.
The easiest fix, if anything, is to just store a Deathblow mechanic. If the mob's HP falls under the stored Wildfire value, the Wildfire (is instantly consumed and) the mob instantly dies. It doesn't have the same element of control to push a phase, whenever that might still be relevant, but it fixes issues against quick-dying mobs perfectly.

I would love this! I rarely play anything but WHM these days, but I have been keeping my MCH geared
