Yes you can use it as a way to level to 60, Yoshi has said as much. You start as lvl 1 in the dungeon and go up to 60, but only a part of the exp you get will stay in the outside world. So the exp won't be as fast as in the dungeon and they have not compared it to any other way to get exp so I don't know how fast it is compared to regular questing/dungeoning/FATE grind etc, but I would imagine it is at least a decent way to lvl up and from the looks of it I think it will be the most fun to way level up.

I'm gonna duo it with my boyfriend. I'll be going in as a WHM. Not sure what he'll go in as though. More than likely he'll go in as a NIN.
I do want to try to solo it as a WHM at some point though.

Given how it works, going by the translations I've read of interviews, progression is locked to the party. What I mean by this is that if you go in with friends A & B, progress to the first save point then leave, you can ONLY restart at the save point if the next time you gogo. InIn you're with friends A & B again. If you go in with A & C then you restart. I think, but can't guarantee, it also restarts if you go in with a smaller team of the same members (eg only you & A).

Tl;dr - You need to keep identical party members (player characters) to progress after saving or it resets to lvl1.

Going to try it solo and then with FC and LS mates when they are on.

30th floor, not 13th. So yes, some people will most likely blow through it in a day or two.

I'm going to take my sweet time though :)

Granted that the content is supposed to be easy enough that any party composition can complete it, I'll probably go with a healer and anyone else on DPS. Shouldn't be a need for a tank - but I'm guessing a healer would still be useful.

I was thinking about taking my level 17 ACN into deep dungeon... but, I'm wondering if I will have to restart the deep dungeon progress if I hit 30 (outside the dungeon) and want to switch to SMN or SCH?

Anyone think they may add Eso Tomes as rewards for clearing each floor to get players farming Anima weapon into constantly returning to this place?

On topic:
I am guessing the reason we could reach 30 floor so fast in a group could be that each floor enemy level are fixed to that level so going into that certain floor at a high Deep Dungeon level would allow players to blaze through it easily unless their level are more par with the floor.
