2.5 was in January.

Personally, I want them to fix a lot of the old stuff. I don't want to jump into another expansion with the same issues. At least dedicate one patch to just QoF fixes.
Iirc, didn't they say a while back(like, back during 2.3 / 2.4 or so) that it might not always end on x.5, that it could be longer or shorter? So technically, it could end in 3.6+ or they could surprise us and throw in the final VA and alex in 3.4 and end it there. I doubt the second one, but it's just an example. Then again, they've also said numerous things that they never actually did (FC/personal housing prices different, roaming primals etc).
Whenever they decide to give us 4.0, I just hope it feels more like an actual expansion, rather than paying $30+ for what equaled to a patch, which was what 3.0 was. Maybe add something new, rather than just one and done dungeons where we sit for 3-5 months doing the same 2 dungeons at endgame.
I would be very surprised if they did add a 3.6, considering there's only one part of Alexander left, and they won't do a Mhach raid for both 3.5 and 3.6.
Since the Mhach raids are typically used as a way for players to catch up, I also can't see it being added in the same patch as the final part of Alexander.
The only thing that could be possible is SE splitting up 3.5 into two patches for MSQ reasons, similar to 2.5.
After 3.55
3 months from now- Final Alexander added
6 months from now - final void ark added
9 months from now - Pre-expansion story
12 months from now - 4.0
If they follow their same patch cycle, it'll be that.
