Well somethings are hard and meant to be hard. One doesn't have to love it all. Making it easy for those who want it easier doesn't' necessarily make it better. I suggest you make a bot if it bothers you that much. I don't know I've leveled my roles the hard way, excuse me but it was fine. I didn't lose any sleep over it.

I don't like running Midas 15 times for a shaft. I think I should get it 1st try. Really why does it have to be so hard.

Leveling roles for alt classes or your main for that matter gets you into fates, dungeons and more. It's part of what keeps the game populated with players.

Edit: And just food for thought. I have a friend who leveled dragoon for invigorate for her bard. Now her dragoon is almost a level 60 and she's loving it. Guess if she didn't have to level it to get what she needed for her bard she may not have experienced the job and actually having to use that role.

I know the person you're replying to first brought this up but let's not further encourage botting heh.

I tend to fall more in the camp that the cross-classes encourage diversity and can bring people to try jobs they otherwise wouldn't, but that's not to say those problems couldn't be solved in other ways. By level 16 as a Pugilist you already have most of your rotation, and by 20 you have multiple buff abilities, a DoT, and a stacking buff to manage. It's engaging. By level 20 on Lancer you're still pressing two buttons in your main DPS rotation (or one if you want to be even lazier). Getting Blood for Blood isn't a problem of level IMO, but of the class's design up to that point. It's just not very fun to play if you're only doing it for Blood for Blood.

On a related note though, the three tanks should really have their own baseline provoke ability instead of all pulling off of Gladiator. No fight in the game requires you to have Swiftcast, and no fight in the game requires you to use Mantra, or whatever else. Not in the way you're required to use Provoke at least. Obviously someone invested in tanking is going to take up a Gladiator, but if you're going to require a skill that much it shouldn't take up a cross-class slot.

Except it still isn't hard. You can make every enemy give a measly 1 XP and then go and claim "well leveling is meant to be hard!", when it truth, it's just one massive unfun chore in which you only press one button for hours on end. Such difficulty!

And since we're flaunting: I also leveled all my roles "the hard way". I also have two alts at 60, with cross class set up. The same way. And another alt in Heavensward, with two classes at 50. Do I get a cookie now? I think your horizon is simply limited because you only play one character.

One character? My main is full 60's across the board including gathering and crafting. I have two alts at 60, one is a 60 Bard where the other has Pally, Whm, Astro, Summoner, Scholar and soon to be Blm at 60. I know all about leveling and cross class skills. I don't fuss and complain about things as much as some do here on this forum.

And yeah if you want a cookie you can have one. Just don't expect SE to lower the standards to make it easier for those who don't want to work for things.

U woulda had a better chance with this thread before they gave us a 30% xp ring. Just do it. It increases ur dps that should motivate u enough, if it doesnt maybe ur not as serious as u might think with raiding.

Please note that OP is talking about having multiple alternate characters. His main character (or at least the one he posted from) is already 50+ everything lol. I think this thread was just created out of boredom during the maintenance last night. I personally have 4 characters with multiple 60s and cross-class stuff leveled, and another that's 56sch or something. As boring as it is leveling xclass stuff for the 5th time, I wouldn't call it hard or expect a change.

Cross classing is pretty lackluster now compared to 1.0 anyway. I hope they do something more with it in the future.

In regards for B4B you will have to suffer just to get a damage boosting skill.

Prep work for endgame needs is part of the genre. There is no MMORPG that does not sport this static tradition in some form, be it leveling other classes/jobs (this is not just an FF thing, despite what many may mistakenly believe), currency acquisition, gearing up, etc. Some may be more fun/tolerable than others, which is a subjective case by case thing, but it's all part of endgame. The more prep work you do, the more serious you are about endgame. This essentially translates to being the more work you put in, the farther you expect to go.

It's not exactly necessary to have though, obviously. However, one could easily argue that for a game like this, neither is leveling period. Outside of the initial few levels to come to the conclusion that your class/job is melee or ranged (this includes healers), you don't learn much trying to hit 60. I'd personally argue that it'd be more like the 50-60 range, but bad players at 60 clearly contradict that. The combat system is much too easy to necessitate a need to learn and, in some cases like BRD, practically useless until you hit 60.

Having said that, they could lower it if they really felt a need for it. There would be no immediate downside to that. The question is: is it really worth their time? IMO it would not be. This is a case where speed is the only real negative factor to complaints. Their introduction of things like the 30% ring drastically reduces the time you need to get to 34. It gets you to 31 in 30% less time, not including rested exp. If it took you 5hrs normally to get there, you're looking at it dropping to 3.5hrs, which is huge. If you can't afford that in an MMORPG, where time and preparation is (objectively) the heart and soul of many aspects of it, I don't think there's much room to complain. Dislike it all you want, that's fine, but I would hope that you wouldn't delude yourself into thinking your opinion is infallible on this one.

Only if you're exclusively grinding mobs/dungeons for all of 1-31. It doesn't boost FATE exp or levequest exp, that I know of. Dungeon queue time on dps is still pretty awful too. I just did archer/bard on one of my alts from 15-34 last week, and I was usually waiting 30+mins per dungeon rather than the 12-18m average it usually gave me. Granted, I did levequests, fates and hunting log while I waited, but the +30% exp on monster kills during non-dungeon activities barely scratches the grind.
