You can't just remove the piety buff. It is still technically a primary stat, in the same way that vitality is, needing to meet thresholds to get through content making it very valuable up until you have enough at which point extra becomes useless.
LDR had the right idea in that the buffs shouldn't be tied to specific classes but triggered by varied jobs filling the roles. So long as a healer is present the mind buff should be present, and so long as 2 healers are present and not the same job then the piety buff should be active. All the bonuses should be based on filling the roles with varied jobs rather than tied to a job specifically so that when adding new jobs to the game you don't have to try and shoehorn a bonus on them.

It's not 'absolutely absurd' as you put it, considering some jobs (such as SCH) have to meld accuracy rather than their favoured Crit. Also, saying to an off healer that they don't need to meld accuracy cause they only need to heal discredits you completely. We're not talking about dungeons here, the party bonus is mainly applicable to end game raids in which a healer always contributes to DPS.Quote:

And yes, melding has nothing to do with the piety bonus, but you mentioned BLMs would have to meld to compensate for losing it, that's why I mentioned it so it wasn't random. And for the record, I did say earlier that I hope that doesn't happen, BUT if it did we all still have options to compensate for it.

Out of interest, what party bonuses do tanks bring? Does each tank job bring the same bonus? Could this same principle* be expanded to all jobs? Or are all categorally similar jobs so based on one stat that it makes sense they bring only that?
* the suggestion that one healer class brings mnd, and if two different ones, both mnd and piety. -

@Sida your pretty much asking the right question.
Tanks only bring the VIT bonus, thats uniform across the ROLE.
The bonus thing should be simple but gets muddied by a few things;
-Piety being a main stat despite not being "the" main stat of any class/job in the game
-Since there was only 2 healers back in the begining of ARR, they decided that PIE fitted Heal roles more and so gave PIE to one class [SCH] and MND to the other [WHM] to "balance" it out.
Originally you could easily say;
Tanks = VIT
Melee = STR
Physical Ranged = DEX
Caster Ranged = INT
Healer = MND
but as i said PIE had to be attributed somewhere so they spilt it on the Healer roles.
However SE threw a minor spanner in the works when they made NIN, a melee dps, use DEX, previously the reserve of Phys Ranged; meaning while they could make it so the Tank ROLE gave VIT rather than attribute it to each class [and still could], all physical dps now dont have such clear deffined role/bonus lines; coupled with the existing MND PIE split means, as you worded, "expanding the same principle" not as straight forward.
So your final line is more "true" at current; except no job is based on Piety, which is what this whole shebang is about.
really this is all a case of past core game design which worked and was fine no longer making "as much sense as it did" to be that way with updates and added content [classes/jobs]
