Im racist towards lalas and proud of it.
My response to this is to fire up Bing Translate (sorry, Microsoft man here), select the target language as their language, type in what I wanna say in English, have it translate, then copy paste the translated version into the chat. Not perfect, but they generally understand it.
Yup, should works pretty good =) I mean nobody cares if it's grammatically perfect or not, as long you make sure that the guy understand the strat you're explaining, it's fine (god when you read what native french player are able to write in french... google trad or bing can't make worse than that XD )
Sure has affected my outlook on little people and potatoes.
Video games don't make people racist, anti social or more violent. These are ideas pushed by the media, aka bunch of people who lack the coordination to perform a hadouken motion from the player 2 side of the screen and have no business meddling where they don't belong.
Lol, this particular discussion seems humorous coming from a player that plays a lala for some reason. Lala's, much like gnomes and dwarves in wow, often are the race that players associate with pretending to be racist against.... A rogdelyn might be like "Lala's aren't people right? If I kicked our lala blm like a football right now, no one would care right?" Meanwhile the lala mutters in chat about how he'd blow up this large impudent monkey with his powerful magic... :P It's even worse on RP servers I'm sure.
Lemme teach you a fun trick to do if you are stuck in a group with people speaking a language you don't understand. Google translate is your friend. If people are speaking a language to you that they *know* you aren't understanding and they are doing on purpose, they are going to be saying very amusing things to you, most likely. If on a PC, highlight their text, use control+C to copy it and then control+v it into google translate to paste it. Find out what they are saying. Type up your own response into google translate and convert it to their native tongue (google says what language it is). Doing this process I have gotten the most amusing laughs out of people. They absolutely didn't expect you to respond and now you did. They probably won't know if you know their language or not if you do it fast enough. They might think you suck at their language but, they will know you know what they are saying...
I giggle so much when I do this in game.... lol
I understand what OP means. Im a french myself and i share the common mentality that french players are stupid and bad players, simply because its true.
I don't consider myself like one of them and try to avoid them as much as i can.
I NEVER speak anything else than a ( flawed ) english. My FC often joke about it saying im "one of the rare good ones" and that they wouldn't notice i wasn't english if i didnt tell them.
Now when it comes to duties i agree with the french bashing mentality because i've seen how the majority of french players are. They don't try to understand english, insult whoever tells them to try and some are just very bad.
They have no excuses though. English is the international language, you have to comprehend it.
I have to admit one thing. School barely teached me anything aside from the english basics. That didnt stop me from trying to learn it by myself 10 yrs ago. Everything i know about it, is from playing games set on english..
Anyway TLDR: Im french and i think like the OP.
All the lalas need to be deported.
Ah ya I played a gnome in wow for a while, I like small characters too. I came from a RP server in another game so maybe RP is something I'm more used to. It can be entertaining. I do realize most people don't do it. I personally didn't do it much myself, I mostly was on the RP server for the lols to see other people act in character. Oh ya but ps4... bah, no google translate then I guess... :/
I'm personally small in RL so I tend to not be a small character in a game for super long... It's too "real" for me... lol
