I don't really tbh. I log in for raids and daily stuff. If I get a new person in any of the roulettes it doesn't even matter. You just win anyway on any old trial or dungeon roulette no matter how bad they are or arent, collect your bonus tomes and move on. The only things that even matters if you are new is thordan ex and savage. And those are pf only so it's announced in the pf description 8f 8ts a learning party or not.
Not sure how this question is even relevant. 95% of the game is an easy win regardless of new people unless the entire expert roulette party is new and bare minimum geared. But that just doesn't happen enough to be an issue. Just beat the content and mosey along. Doesn't really require a special approach or patience.
How do many of you feel about helping?

I used to do roulettes regularly with the intention of helping bring others through the game (especially lower level ones).
I kind of started to wane when it became a carry game (people just go in expecting a carry with no effort or learning on their part).
When I refer to it as a carry game, the person will be there, and very slow to join the fight if they join at all, and when suggestions are made to improve things ends up snapping or being a total (you know what).
After a while I just got to the point that if I don't know the people going in I just don't do roulettes at all, as it is such a pain to do it with a group that clearly either does not care or has no clue and then gets bend out of shape if anything even in the slightest is mentioned. In the end it ends up being staying silent and carry or just don't do them. So I don't do them anymore.
One of my biggest complaints in roulettes is this, you get the elitist type that just wants to rush through, complaining when people die and blaming everyone but himself only to eventually drop (tanks do this a lot). Then you get the DD that are pushing as hard as they can and then wine constantly when they are either nearly tanking or die. Little tip, if I bust tail to keep you alive knowing the tank is having trouble with hate and you wine about it I just let you fall, it is easier and less of an issue, plus it allows the tank to tank for a bit. This happens when Max geared DD come in and are working with a tank that is in the build up phase (not maxed). They know even if he is skilled there is little he can do against 2 DD going to town that are overgeared. We usually make it through because the DD stay to get it done, eventually they settle so they can stop having to run back.
This got old fast.
Sadly this is becoming so prevalent I really don't play the game much anymore, and hang on the edge of throwing in the towel.
I will admit coming from FFXI I got used to a community that was mostly respectful, but of course had a few bad apples, however it seems like most of the people that play lately (that I run across in roulettes or duty finder) are really just wanting everything handed to them, no courtesies, or just want to wine about everything.
So in the general sense, yes I will help as needed no questions, but I don't go in blind anymore. -

for my part, if I feel I am really the problem, then I leave on my own account.
If I feel someone is the problem, I may or may not tell them but I stick with it to the end. Do I insult people ? no, at worst I leave if it becomes silly to that point. Do I like advice ? depends who gives them. Accepting an advice from someone that I dont know is not in my nature, what do I know about you that are giving me an advice IF you truely know what you are saying ? just because you appear to have this or that class at lvl 60 doesnt make you all knowing, which is my whole problem with the new mentor system to come. I would never give an advice to someone how to play his class unless is obvious, like no having swiftcast or standing there doing nothing. Otherwise, wont happen.
Why ? because of the same reasons I dont necesseraly listen to advice given to me by any and all same is valid reverse, they dont know me so dont have to take my advice as gold. Also, different people, different playstyle. I will come along, I will follow you around, I will stick to the end, but for the rest we all need to find our own answers by ourselves, and the best way to do that is to wait for the question to be asked rather then impose on someone something they didnt ask for in the first place, that leads to non-receptivness (cant say it in another way) but when it is asked, I will give truthfully an answer and not insult others or tell them, like I see more and more happening, to go and Google it. -

I try to help as much as I can. But even when you are helping you need to know the point after which it just won't work out.
But it is harder to know whether you will get anything from helping. I am fine with people being thankful. I am not fine if it is someone I know who I then cannot count on. /shrug -

We defer in that, if someone asks for my help I wont expect anything in exchange. No sour taste, no anything. Will I help them again ? probably yes, but there will be a point where I wont go beyond as it would abusing of my kindness and that is where the limit is drawn..
Same though I dont accept easely help from others as generally, like you said, they tend to expect somethign in exchange and you never now what that something may be -

But if it's a friend or an FC member and they straight-out refuse to help others (including me) while constantly being on the receiving end, then I will not be happy nor motivated to help that person anymore. As I've said, as long as the person is thankful and shows it and tries to be as kind and helpful, it's fine.Quote:
