/doubt. Final Fantasy itself is a "myth".
Still, it's said that their faces are black because it's being concealed.

Sorry, failure of a joke on my part. But I do agree that the Dwarves dark faces and glowing eyes is just a way to show concealed faces on sprites. Same thing with the Black Mages of FFI really, the class wasn't a different race like FFIX's Black Mages, just a human with a concealed face.
