While I agree with you, there are role-play puritans out there who will kick and scream while mentioning that ERP is in no way actual role-playing.

I never seen RP in action. Makes me quite curious how that goes. The closest I seen was macros with dramatic text on their abilities. Mostly on limit breaks or berserk, haha.

basically, it reads like (sometimes quite bad) fiction. because it's a person only writing their own character it can be a little disjointed, but the interactivity makes it a lot of fun.

It's like improvisational stage acting, but without the need to be able to speak.
