I don't find players friendly.

Don't be afraid of leaving an FC if it doesn't suit you. Some of them do massive recruiting, I'm guessing to build their pick of players for activities like raids and to raise their stats on the company boards and tend to limit their activities to those particular concerns and never address the rest of the company. I'm at my third, and while one or two of them are pretty awesome, the rest do tend to treat my messages as invisible. Sometimes its just a matter of trying to work with it or waiting for a better one to come around. If you're in a party you can actually ask people if their FC is open to new players. Each player also has an 'Examine' submenu where you can look at their FC company profile and see what their goals are even before that.

I left the last FC I was in for the same reason. I wanted to have people to group with often, and they might help clear something if I beg. But after it's over, they would leave party or find some excuse to afk or go do something else. When their clique is online, they would do everything together and not invite me along. The only benefit of FC is cheaper tele really.

You're right actually many people would like to tell you its friendly but that is mostly because they have been with the same FC for quiet a while. Many players are not, out of all MMORPGS i have been through this has the most unfriendliest comminuty ever. The only actual nice players you'll meet is those who pretend they are Japanese or into that culture. I been with this game for quiet a while and even the staff are just as rude. This game is just honestly speeding through content and raiding & spending everyday in town complaning about content or trolling new players. Wish the game was more soleable its fun but the players really ruin it for you.

There are friendly and helpful peopel all around. The key though is detecting them, getting them on your friends list or linkshells. Just start a linkshell and those that you enjoy spending time with add them on one or better both.

As for FCs if you see recruitment shouts talk to the recruiter, explain what you are looking for - it might not work most of the time but sometimes they will be honest enough to say how it is. And just turn down blind invites, they aren't worth it ever.

Also, if you join an FC that seems to have active players that don't talk much on the FC chat, you may want to keep in mind that many know each other irl and call one another. Whether it's skype or vent (or anything). Unfortunately, that is always a bit harder to get into if you don't know them that well and requires you to have a bit of an outgoing personality. Granted, sometimes being quiet isn't bad. One of my FC mates is usually in our calls, but almost never talks. We'll run a dungeon together, then we'll all stay in chat and he won't talk for hours. Then someone will say something that makes him perk up and chime in and we're all like, "holy crap! You're still here?!" Or in game he'll see a treasure coffer, to which he always yells out "Treasure Coffer!" in chat whenever he see's one. It's quite humorous when we all forget he's on the chat and he just pops in with a random comment.

But anywho, main point was, sometimes lack of chatting in game really means they're all communicating by other means. I will say, usually if you start up some convo in the FC chat, it'll help. If anyone in my FC chats in it, everyone usually chimes in so long as they aren't busy in a dungeon or cutscene (or something that might impede them from noticing).

..Not really. They tend to have a superiority complex. There are nice people, just that once again, they have established circles and wont give anyone not in it a chance.

I've since given up on this. Hell I've given up on the players. There's no escaping this dreadful solitude, and I really really hate going into a DF without someone I know, as the randoms don't really give a shit about you.

That is on him and not you and your friends, as you gave him a fair chance. Communication is key. Nothing works without it.

It could be the server or FC you are in, there are plenty of friendly people in game.
Also curious, was the FC your in using shouts as a way to recruit? I would stay away from those.
Also what size (amount of players) in the FC? Larger Free Companies tend to ignore some members.

I would think it's easier to meet nice people in pf or when you aren't in an FC. Example, I check PF constantly for clear parties and join to help whenever I can, I've run with groups that had 3 or 4 primals to clear and whenever you run so much content with the same few people you're bound to chitchat. As for not having an FC, if I see someone with mismatched gear without an fc I'll usually offer to gear them up free of charge. However if they are in an FC I just kind of assume their FC mates can help and they don't need advice, gear, what have you.

That's too much of an over-generalization. The FCs you'll find from blind invites are pure hit and miss as to whether they'll be any good or not. The most friendly, helpful, and social group I've ever run with was one I found from a blind invite. It's just that with only an invite to go by, you don't know anything about the group in advance. It's based on joining first, to see from the inside whether you like the FC or not. If you like it, you stay, and if you don't then you leave after a little while to try another group. It's essentially the trial-and-error version of FC hunting. But sometimes trial and error works, and you may find a great group that you wouldn't have found otherwise.

I hope you wound up trying a new FC. Some of them are open as far as numbers go, but they're not really open to new people. My first FC on my original server had good people who helped me settle into the game, but they were an old group of friends and couples. Very set in their relationships and how they wanted to play, and our goals didn't match.

After transferring I had to try three before settling on a fourth. I ran into similar problems where I felt I had to work my way into a clique, but at the same time the FC didn't seem to offer me much to make it worth the time. Very quiet, few to no group activities, standoffish players, etc. I wound up sticking with one that had a PF ad up because there was in-game chat in addition to Teamspeak, people running content together, and general good vibes.

Don't go by numbers alone, one with 50 members can actually be better than one with 100.
