Eh, not "became" they always were. I think the idea they might be going with is the trailers depicted the journey of the warriors of darkness, that what we saw as teasers weren't from out realm but their's.

I must be overinvested in these dumb snow elves because the shot of the Brothers Fortemps interested me the most.
