FFXIV is designed to be an extremely newbie-friendly game for people who never touched an MMORPG. For many, it's actually a great gateway game into the genre before they go on to tackle more challenging games.

Outside of the endgame shift (which requires a minimum 90% potential out of a job), you can pass any DPS, heal, or tank check in the game with a minimum of 30% effort.

Thee issue with skill floor is that while dps can sit at their floor, tanks and healers get their floor pushed by other party members.

If tank pulls more, or shifts towards dps, then healer has to move their floor up. When healer or dps do a lot of enmity, then tank's floor has to move up.

When it comes to newbie-friendly game, I agree, yet I am baffled with one thing - When a new player enters content with overgeared players, the content becomes more difficult for tanks/healers. While better gear should make it easier, it is actually making it harder. This is a huge flaw in game's design.

True. 2~3 weeks ago I had to basically solo heal Ravana EX, when Ravana was at around 10% HP and my MP very low (I was struggling to cast a Medica/Medica II) with Assize and Shroud on CD, the SCH keep DPSing and not giving a damn, the party was with 50%~ HP, and I had to type in chat begging for "Succor" so the party wont wipe.

Well I don't feel like trash when nothing is going on. Healing has pauses like that followed by intense moments where quick and sound judgment is necessary and if executed correctly can be very rewarding. If a healer misses a step, game over.

Ravana and Bismarck NM are DPS checks more than anything else story-wise. You have probably not seen 5 swords drop in duty finder before, or not seen the snakes die on-time in Bismarck then. Cause that does happen, if it didn't often, why do babies still drop out of the instance when they get these in DF?

Tank check? Not really, Ravana you just position correctly, and avoid the 2nd and 3rd Tapa hits. Bismarck? There is no tank swap like extreme, just handle your add(s). Heal check? Simple AoEs and keeping tanks healthy. There is more shoulders on the DPS to at-least make a damage threshold compared to healers and tanks among mechanics as well. It's not equally low.

As a raider, I know some healers need practice or -insert any reason here- to not dps in dungeons or anything else that don't require healer's dps. I don't blame these people, I don't have the right to force them to play as I want during these content. I think you don't have the right either.

Play as the healer or with friends if you don't like it or just deal with it.

I don't think anyone was implying on forcing anything. It's just a topic on judging a SCH based on what they see in a casual setting. On the same token if players don't want to be judged then they can simply play with their friends or FC. It's totally fair game to judge if they are joining others to play.

Play the class the way you want to play it. You're not forced to end game raid with these other healers so stop letting it bother you.

When I run things with my husband and he rolls DPS instead of tank he usually does nothing about complain about the pug tank. Not everyone is going to play to your exact specifications or standards... Sorry, it's not how it works... which is something I also have to explain to him lol...

Have to agree with Velox here.

"If you don't like this, I suggest you find a different MMO to play."

This is a poor example.If a tank needs to regain hate that means theyve lost it, at which point you failed your primary role, which is to tank.

A healer not dpsing is not failing the primary role they have.

As was said before, unless content demands tanks or healers to dps, then it is completely optional
