It's also worth mentioning there is one very distinct advantage of PCs. If you come into some money down the road a bit, you can pull out that graphics card and put in a monster, or similarly upgrade any other part. For now... just enjoy having a lot more capability than the 4000HD and the pretty sights in all the world and dungeons and, when you get to 60, the fancy endgame raids.

Not to nitpick but most of those show games running at high settings at 1366x720 by the OP's original post I assume his "1920" monitor I assume he wants to run the game in 1920x1080 which with a card like that he may be lucky to get 15-20fps and far from the 45 fps he is wanting

thats true i would like to play on 1920x1080 but i wouldnt have any settings on max. most i would like is to just have others animations on and leave everything on low or off because the game looks great (shadows look blocky but i assume its my laptops fault). would that help raise the fps at all?


Edit* any other game pc websites anyone can suggest? im afraid to use pcbuilder due to me being ignorant of compadability of parts and whats a good brand/type to use

with my luck it will still be out of stock and ill have to try to understand how to tell a bad video card from a decent one ^^;

TC, I implore you to continue saving your money and build a rig. You will get so much more for your money, and if you continue putting aside some money wherever you can (comfortably), then getting a better part for your computer is only a matter of waiting an extra week or two.

Literally everything you need to know about PC building is available on that website. I was in a similar position as you a few months ago - I hadn't the faintest clue about what goes into a computer. However, I decided my PS4 just wasn't a sufficient experience for XIV and decided to start saving up over a few months to buy a decent rig. During that time, I did research on that site and actually had a blast planning what parts I would buy. The assembly was easy as a first timer - the only thing that really requires thought is cable management, and you can honestly get away with mediocre cable management if your PC still stays cool.

Furthermore, by building your own PC, you avoid the low-quality power supplies that are used in most prebuilt computers. You seem to be very cost conscious. You wouldn't want this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrijOqu5oR4 to happen to your $600 purchase, would you?

Settings are adjustable. Medium would probably get him pretty decent FPS @1080 and really doesn't look bad.

Im going to try looking into building the pc in the 500 tier list with the SSD and 8GB of ram. (only thing going on here will be the OS, FFXIV and WoW so i will use my laptop for other stuff till i can get a HDD drive to add. im still intimidated about building it though but it seems everything else is a rip off :(

It is the most efficient way to go. See if you can get a friend that can help you (in person). If not... Video guides are not as good but follow them carefully and they should see you through. And as a bonus, it's much easier once you've done it... well, once. Next time you need a computer you'll be able to do this with ease.
