Things I'm starting to hate on AST

Oh I love it when a person with bad reading comprehension tries to troll me. Just because a dragoon obtained a 400 dps improvement from a card and my brother whom I do daily dungeons with on average gains 150 dps from my cards we have clocked over last month please stop trying to derail this thread with your ignorant flaming. 150 dps from a machinist is going to be different then a 400 dps boost to a dragoon.

Yes I know 2 astrologians that are on savage mode 2 and I said come on Balmung and I will gladly let you talk to them. Trying to pull them into a thread when they do not even read the drama that is the healer forums does not mean that many Astrologian's are not performing well in all raids. You speak about how bad astrologians are in a bind right now need to consider whether or not you are playing the job to its maximum strength which I doubt most are not. As I said it is a job that requires coordination and knowledge of multiple jobs to properly make use of your cards which very few are going above and beyond the call to care about.

All they do is scream since I have to try harder then a white mage and scholar I want my job buffed. See where this road is taking us? You have your supposed superior jobs with the white mage and its many cooldowns. Your scholar with its defensive utility and mitigation abilities and you have the astrologian that is a buffer that has abilities for all jobs in a group.

The focus is on the cards, but since the cards (support) are at fault for our lack of cooldowns that affect our healing capacity, this is relevant.

Oh, I love it when a person with no actual concept of math or how it works tries to call other people ignorant, while posting no actual facts or proof to back up any of their wild claims. They just start name calling and trash talking when logic denies them their false claims.

I was going to edit to include more reasoning, but Eudyptes and others have explained it below before I could. Not that you'll actually bother to respond with anything actually factual, but it's there if you're interested in educating yourself on how adding 400DPS just because a Dragoon (or even 170DPS because it's a MCH) is in a party is impossible. Claiming stuff like this is what makes it really hard to believe anything you say, because even with a basic comprehension of math and RNG, anyone can come to the conclusion that there's no way AST can add 400DPS to a Dragoon's total damage (in current endgame), even with optimal Draws.

This is how we know you are not telling the truth, or at the very least not the whole truth. 400 dps increase on a drg means the drg has to be doing over 4000 dps with absolute perfect card conditions. He'd have to be doing over 8000 dps to get that same increase under good conditions, and something like 12000 dps under standard card conditions. Any drg doing that much dps can outright solo Alex savage (assuming they stay alive).

Do you mean their attacks did 400 more damage than normal? Or maybe it was a 400 dps increase in the first 10 sec of the fight? Because a flat out raw 400 dps increase from cards alone is mathematically impossible in the current endgame.

This is what you said. 150-160 DPS though an entire encounter.
You seem to have no idea what "DPS through an encounter" means.

Also, boosting a Dragoons DPS for 10% every 30 secs for 15 secs will never ever result in 400 DPS, unless he is putting out 8000 DPS in a nuking phase, and you only parse over 30 seconds.

There's a difference between adequate and competitive. Being adequate at highest level of possible play in conjunction with good RNG is no excuse not to improve the job and bring it into competitive territory. Also, what gives? Seems like you have a chip on your shoulder. Has Square steered us overly wrong yet on balance? No matter the complaints in one direction or the other, things seem to end up where they belong (even if it takes a while). Warrior and Scholar both got their adjustments, and they're so much the better for it. Across the myriad threads on this subject you don't appear to be garnering any support for your particular views on the subject. If you disapprove of the player population who want to see the job improved, just walk away. That would certainly be simpler than throwing yourself at a brick wall and getting worked up over it.

For some reason, I am suddenly reminded of the BRD DPS per second thread on Reddit when I see these random numbers being thrown around about how much AST cards are changing someone's DPS.

I never listen to Vlady anymore. Never did honestly, never will.
He thinks AST is God tier and it's not.

I genuinely appreciate most of your math work, Ghishlain. I'm not particularly adept at serious mathematics, so I leave the sleuthing to those better at it than I; however, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to determine that most of the numbers certain people have been claiming are just flat out made up and astronomically inaccurate.

I love astro and I really want it to work really I do... I have done a lot of content on it ranging from dungeons exprimals and alexander normal. I have solo healed A1-A3 I have solo healed ravana and bismark ex and the second I step into savage you can tell its just not going to work that great. I was replacing a whm here and there for my friends static and here are some facts.



-Their whm was able to solo heal faust up to 6 stacks we had to drop off at 4 with me there.
-Their WHM offered better group healing on the split party using Asylum while I could only offer a second supporting heal on a single target using synestry which each healer was already taking a tank so that wasnt nearly as helpful
-During jumps I could offer healer bubble or helios the whm could just cure 3 for more
-Tank busters I could Essential Dignity then try to heal through it with other stuff while the whm could tetra for about the same amount
-Prey... I had nothing for this I could only use my aspected benefic and the SCH had to cover using adlo and lustrates whm would divine seal and regen and a medica 2 cast would keep them up until the next top up before jump

I had cards but no card is going to replace the sch losing 2/3's of their dps to help heal more nor will my cards suddenly increase my healing efficiency or output during heal heavy stages (gunpod -> prey -> tank buster) where the sch would already be taxed trying to keep up healing with a more efficient healer.

I love this job and I want to play as it but its just not as good at this time as its alternatives, can it be used... yes, with great difficulty less efficiency and overall more stress on the whole group to cover for having it so why bring it.
