Only thing I don't like is how all of a lancer's weapons are now piercing. Was hoping they'd keep spears as slashing for mobs resistance to piercing damage. But then again they did the same thing to PGL's weapons.

With Blindside doing forced crit now Chaos Thrust is amazing. Doomspike II is also amazing. Myself and a friend were doing R43-49 Ixalis near Treespeak 6 at a time and I would line them up and do a fully buffed Doomspike II. Was really fun and good Spiritbond grinding.
I'm loving how I'm hearing shouts for darkhold runs that used to ask for ARC ( oops meant LOLARC) asking for LNC now.
I see so many arcs who used to hog the darkhold run places running around as low lvl lancers now, oh how I laugh.
The new gear is lovely too, got myself the cobalt hauby stuff, some red felt trousers and added +7 dex and str to them and my new favourite friend the hart guisarme, only 130k on selbina and with the addition of +22 attack power from materia its a helluva lance.
Using back to back Chaos Thrust is entertaining.

I keep both on my bar anyways, but Doomspike is just so consistently powerful that I find Chaos Thrust's only edge on it is that it doesn't eat all of your TP. Blindside + Chaos is pretty nice (though auto-crit on Doomspike is nice too), probably moreso if you have a good boost of Savage Might materia.
I tend to use chaos thrust more, using doomspikeII when I can use it in conjunction with bloodthirst and ferocity II for a quick hp regain.
Also worth remembering Doomspike II is AOE. It will also hit mobs between you and the target. I decided to show my linkshell mates a lnc can Pl as well as any mage. Ran around and aggroed a load of lvl38ish hippocerfs with a tap of the lance, hit ferocity II and bloodbath, targetted the mob at the back of the group and hit DSII. Eight dead mobs in one shot.
