As you cant believe in FFXI.. there have been more than just one summoner on each server.. and they werent "boring".. on the contrary. everybody enjoyed their looks. and not everybody had all summons like Diablo, Odin, Alexander etc... especially that summoners in FFXI had to defeat the real primal (solo or in grp) first in order to obtain their alter egos in form of avatar pets .

in all manners SMN in FFXI was something special... you felt yourself quiet epic. the first time i bet shiva in a solo raid.. it was magical.. and it wasnt easy, you needed special potions, food etc... and you better fought shiva on fire day not on ice day or she probably would kick your ass out^^

But that's the point. It's already boring, because everyone's running around with Garuda-Egi, never even mind the actual looks of it. (A smaller percentage maybe Ifrit, but I only really see that during duties.) This is exactly why we have been asking for new summons - or at least new "skins" for the existing ones.

And this. I like the damage Deathflare can do, especially when crit, and it feels kinda epic. But that can't make me forget or even overlook the fact that this new direction is completely random and has nothing to do with whatever we were before, as summoners.

i get it, it just comes down to conflicting opinions who's comes out on top? with what they are saying they could give both what they want.

where it would be like seeing a tank in a bikini, they aren't actually so there is no problem either way. (well except if you hate seeing a tank in a bikini) XD

Just going to throw this out there as a ffxi summoner who loved the job to death and as previously stated /suggested smaller versions of the summons to replace our egi's/

....this is not FFXI, i get it, they are amazing, heck i even like ffxi chocobos more than ffxiv chocobos sometimes because of all the detail they gave their feathers in that game, ffxi did /amazing/ things to compensate for its comparative lack of console/graphical power.. but ffxiv and ffxi are not the same game, summoner is not the same summoner, and with good reason considering the difference between the primals who are vicious god beings and the avatars who are reasonable (usually) and /give/ you their power.

I wish that summoner had been seperate from the Arcanist/Scholar jobs and had been a unique thing to work for like dark knight ect, but it isn't and that is how it goes sometimes.

Do i want to feel like the anti-ultima/scions answer to wrongly summoned primals? Yes i do. Do i want to do the Yuna staff dance (please add this SE) or Garnet bahamut summon? Yes i do. Do i want to have my huge beautiful summon fallow me around like some amazing guardian angel for people to ooOoo~ and ahhhh~ at? ...you get it..

But we got egi's, and eventually maybe i will get to wander around with chibiruda at my side, i have faith when SE hints at making plans to do things that it will be done properly. And with the more traditional "there and then gone" bahamut stance we have been given i can see summoner going back to its roots a little more over time, especially if the level cap keeps increasing.

Just allowing use of the carbuncles instead of the egis would have been a good first step.

In the MSQ we even get to see the use of a Ruby Carbuncle, on SEVERAL OCCASIONS, that we as players can never summon.

No it hasn't been worked on. they've been working on things that actually make the job useful and assist with issues that are part of our actual job. Would you of liked them to of taken the time and made us keep the old tri-disaster? Kept the egi's attacks as they were in terms of general damage and their position? Our Dreadwyrm Trance? You'd rather them make it look pretty instead of putting that effort into the actual functionality of the job? They can't do both, we would of came out with a sweet looking job with many broken aspects to it.

You are right to want the egi's to be changed, don't get me wrong..having something else like a lesser primal or a smaller version...is perfectly acceptable. Just we need to give them time, there are a lot of other things out there that require their attention. BRD / MCH / AST / DRK ..etc.. all of these have needed adjustments. Taisetsu na mono o protect my... is just not on the to-do list. But keep people have amazing and wonderful ideas rather than just complaints on fixes. By no means stop presenting them but do understand, it's not on their top list and to please give them time.

That would be a wonderful start. That I can't back up really why you would go from carbuncle to my lil tank nugget. There was a few real good creative threads out there when this first began...they had great ideas in terms of style / design / scalability.

This isn't on their major list of things to do but I do accept that we are nearing the end of "dey broke yer jawb!" to..lets polish this bad boy out. Lets see what happens down the road.

Those ffxi smns look awwwwwful I'm happy with everything we got right now.

They were still debating on whether introducing them one by one, or all at once.

If they choose the former, then the Carbuncles would've been implemented already (since the animations/sounds/effects for them are already there AND they'd just need to use different skin colors), but if they choose the latter...yeah.

The devs have better things to worry about. Glad they will be looking into it though. Personally I'm more interested to see where they go with things like what Lady Ice-Heart did. I would rather have an Ifrit stance that imbues me with Ifrit's strength (and some of his looks) while I have my Egi beside me.

And where is the FC Summoning System they talked about eons ago? I would much rather summon the full force of the summon for a powerful one time move then get new egi's.

I bet Egi glamours will cost like the current Thavnair-sets.... over 50mio gil. <.<

So.. Im not hyped
