SE hates Alchemist. I don't care how many required reagents they add that make Alchemist much more attractive, until I see a recipe for Cordial/Hi-Cordial, SE hates Alchemist.
HP/MP potions could do with being adjusted and rescaled (both in amount restored and level of recipe). We could do with a TP restore potion outside of PvP. Enemies could do with inflicting status effects like Silence more often, and inflicting them for longer, to make things like Echo Drops more useful. I'm actually curious, do items like Spine Drops/Gold Needles work if various raid mechanics are ignored? Probably should have tested that when first trying T9...

They used a lot of the traditional medicine types already, so unless they just start making new ones they're boned on the FF theme. Should just make the old ones scale to level.

Going to have to agree with the crowd, potions and ethers are pretty worthless. I can down an ether for 460 mana, but that won't even cover the cost of a single cure spell at level 60. Echo drops, spine drops and the like are neither potions nor ethers and thus bringing them up as if they're some kind of holy grail is irrelevant to the discussion.
Of course, SE can't do what other people have suggested either and simply remove the caps on these items. The lower tier items tend to have high percentages but lower caps, while the high tier items have low percentages and higher caps. To simply remove the caps would make potions the most powerful healing item in the game with the lowest recast. Can you imagine being able to restore 40% of your hp every minute? Exactly.
The best way to 'fix' it is to have lower tiered potions and ethers restore a fixed amount of HP/MP while the higher tier ones work on percentages. That way you avoid the imbalance while still making them useful for higher levels. The downside is we're about as likely to see Lalafell's raining from the sky as we are to get any kind of potions overhaul. More likely than not they'll simply add new ones at higher tiers if they bother to do anything.
And for goodness sake, SE, make cordials craftable! It's long past due! -

Personally I would NOT like to see new potion items such as "Draconian Potion" or "XX-Potion".
I like this idea better. They should buff existing potions and at least ease up if not remove the maximum limits. I dislike this feature on Food as well, but at least there we have other options. With HP/MP, we have no choice. X-Potion and X-Ether do not restore enough, and Hi-Elixir has a ridiculous cooldown timer. I miss the old days in previous Final Fantasy games where Elixirs were elite items only to be used in emergencies. I guess those days are long gone.Quote:
