The 'fun' builds are only 'fun' if they're at least semi-effective. Otherwise they're the 'bad' builds.

While, yes, this will set you apart from other "bad" players, but at the end of the day, if everyone is playing the class optimally (yeah it will never happen), then theres nothing that sets you apart from anybody else playing the same job as you. Sorry but I don't agree with your comment. More can be done to give players a more personal flare to their character besides playing dress-up.

Arcanist gets summoner and scholar.

I'm sure someday there will be similar variants for a single class.

In that case, you can just play bad and stand out again! Besides, if everyone is using "your" build, there's nothing that sets you apart from anybody else either. Hypothetical scenarios are hypothetical.

On that note: Why aren't you using your base class to spice up your gameplay with the cross class freedom? You can go as far as heal as rogue, or play an Arcanist that's skull sundering things with his book. That differentiates you quite a lot.

Don't tell me "because it sucks" now. You are arguing that this doesn't matter all the time, so that can't be it.
