Isn't how you got the soul crystal by picking it off a dead DRK who was bested by a single Knight? Not even a Paladin? I can't imagine their magick being that powerful, granted maybe the Knight was really fucking good, but it seems like he was just a regular temple knight.
I agree MCH is pretty awesome. The Allagans and Garleans show how powerful technology can be.
But we are talking about individuals, a MCH doesn't represent such a broad concept as a technological society.
The OP was talking about stuff like 1 on 1. So we're just talking about one guy with gadgets.
Very strong gadgets, of course, but not the power of the Allagan or Garlean Empires.
I haven't done the new BLM quests so I don't have a good gauge for them.
The quests up to 50 didn't really show them as pure destruction though. That's what they represent in the FF series usually, but the actual quests didn't show that to me.
WHM was shown that they brought the end of an Era, so that's obviously strong.
I think SMN is also very strong.
Harnessing the power of Primals and channeling Bahamut, that's dealing with the things we consider the most dangerous plot wise.
Tapping into a primal's power is akin to becoming a demi-god, and they deal with things that can make or break the world.
It's based in Allagan tech too and one of their most impressive (and tragic) feats butfrom the Tiamat conversation, they got that from the Ascians.
Also on monk 60 quest, their powerlevel goes far beyond the already lv 50 quest ridiculous levels with the 14 chakra opening giving Wolverine like regen plus hitting like the Fist of the North Star.
Probably still too early for lots of people to have made things public knowledge, but I can share the White Mage details. Spoiler tags for the sensitive, au naturale.
You fight a Zombie Dragon, essentially a downscaled version of the Bone Dragon from the Labyrinth of the Ancients with the help of Raya-O-Senna, A-Ruhn-Senna and Eschiva. At the same time, you're purifying corrupted aether, which causes the Zombie Dragon to rise over and over again until the corrupted aether is gone.
The reason for this fight is that the antagonist Alaqa, an Au Ra woman (girl?) has been creating sources of twisted and corrupted aether to sustain her creation, because the Zombie Dragon is incapable of functioning without it. Tired and terrified of multiple acts of racism (going as far as physical violence and other 'unspeakable' things), she decided to take vengeance on the people of Eorzea by creating the Zombie Dragon and corrupted aether everywhere so that her creation could murder kill all of Eorzea.
After you defeat the Zombie Dragon and cleanse the corrupted aether sustaining its immortality, she loses all will to continue her vengeance and is taken into custody by the Wood Wailers, with some encouraging (or perhaps cynical, stupid humans being mean to the foreign!) words from Raya-O-Senna. A-Ruhn-Senna also decides to travel the world like A-Towa-Cant did before him, having been inspired by the player's acts of bringing succor and solace to whichever corner of the world needs it, rather than being restricted to the Twelveswood.
That's essentially it. Fairly standard as well-intentioned extremist stories go, but it does shed more light on the Au Ra (or just Xaela, Alaqa's wording is very vague, simply referring to her 'people' suffering racism), apparently having suffered their fair share of racism in Eorzea. Perhaps Yugiri wasn't too dumb to wear a mask. :p
Does SCH have prep?
Well technically a certain dark knight npc upon fighting him/her starts throwing out diabolos moves aka gravity force and lets not forget flare. I assume dark knights have the same power source as black mages but instead they call it the "abyss" instead of the void. Now I am not really entering this discussion because you can't really say which class is the "strongest".
