About that CGI trailer...

If I had to guess I'd say it's not meant to be any city that's in the game, but of course what do I know :)

But lorewise, considering we see the awakening of avatars and the airship battles raging right after, I'd say Ala Mihgo before it was destroyed. Who knows.

I'd say ships blew up and dragons got shot.

Other than that I have no clue, I kind of follow the plot on an 'as i encounter it basis', sort of... 'classic rpg' style. As such I know a fair bit about elementals and not a lot else.

It's probably that Thavnair place (or w/e it's called).

I'd wager it ends up being Ishgard though.

What I would like to know is what the meaning is behind the primals/eikons being emitted from the airship after the explosion.

My biggest complaint from the CGI trailer is the lack of Great Swords like the Hyur has. Giant swords are sexy...give them to us please!

My money is on Ishguard, hopefully we get to find out soon :D

I mean, Papalymo, Yda, Thancred and Y'shtola are thought to come from Sharlayan. Could the city actually still be standing? I always held a theory of elected isolation rather than destruction. Which in turn means it could still host said video.

I am sooo happy to see this brought up. A while back, I tried to get a movement going based on the idea that this cinematic demo was our first impression of what XIV could someday be, and a lot of us (especially me) latched onto that.

I thought that, since launch went so poorly compared to the expectations brought on by teasers like this, we should celebrate the rebirth of Eorzea by building an homage to this image that otherwise never would have been; something we could tell future generations of Eorzeans about - what it is, and why it's there.

Where would be the perfect place for this? Ishgard: The final frontier signifying the birth of XIV's true Version One.

Unfortunately, though, that thread went dark a bit ago. If you'd like to help re-ignite it and get something along the lines of that demo built, I implore you to visit the link in my sig and see what we can do. As long as other people are replying to the thread, I'll keep doing the same - I just feel stupid double-posting for free bumps.

Now to go over to that thread wanting a tavern and shamelessly plug my idea there, as well.... Ishgard seems like a great place to have a Tavern, and I think the cinematic demo's aesthetics would make quite a nice bar, myself...

EDIT: @ANIMA I love the screenshot of the greatsword on his back, how the miqo'te behind him is looking at him like, "I would so hit that."

Even if you take out the edited down effects and such from that concept video.. --which actually isn't a concept video at all. It was made to show off crystal tools-- ...the city itself is an extremely appealing layout. In order to get away with all of those effects and height of those graphics though, you'll need an extremely powerful system as far as an MMO is concerned. A single player RPG can get away with graphics like that, but an MMO can't. Not yet, anyway and especially not when that video was made.

Agreed. Though, I just want to see something of the indoor aesthetic seen there, honestly.

Stained glass, stone tile, potted plants, and wrought iron everywhere.

The city itself looks like steampunk'd Limsa. Though, Ishgard has so much metal and indoor lighting that it might still look like that.
