Cannot install the game

He did make the ISO with the finicky drive... I figured it was worth a shot. He's not torrent saavy so I figured that would be an easier thing for him to try than for me to tell him what torrent client to download and where to find a file that's not encrusted with viruses...

I tried to put the ISO I made on a DVD but it's bigger than the DVD (it's 5.14g or something and the DVD's I have are only like 4.48g. ._.). I've tried splitting the file into smaller pieces but when I tried that I got an error, and I don't know of any upload services that would take a 5gig file...

If changing the folder it installs to doesn't work I'm going to teach him torrenting then. /sigh

Winrar or 7zip should be able to split that file.

I didn't realize winrar or 7zip was able to do that. I'm assuming you would use them again to rejoin?

Splitting the file up and sending it to him via direct download just seems easier than having to teach him to torrent. Thanks for the info!

Edit: Nevermind, I just put the ISO into a .rar and then I split up the .rar with HJ split. I'm going to have him try to install the game on another computer - thing is the only other computer he has access too isn't his (it's his roommates) so it all depends if the roomie is willing to cooperate.

Well, that's weird.

And btw WinRar can extract an ISO file to a folder if not mistaken. Just go to ISO, do a right click and choose to open it using WinRar.

Opening the file isn't an issue, it's getting the 5gig ISO TO him. It's too big for the DVD's I have and I'm not about to go spend money on a flash drive large enough. ._.

And yeah, I don't want to teach him how to torrent now that I know he doesn't have any active antivirus on his system. /facepalm

So, good news! It's definitely his Drive being screwy. ._.

He finished downloading the ISO parts I sent him and he was able to install successfully! Apparently the config is screwed up though, so I'm hoping the game will actually work properly. That's all that really matters.

*crosses fingers*

What's the problem with the config? If it crashes and he has an nvidia gpu then there's a solution.

That's because the default FFXIVconfig language is japanese and probably his PC desn't have it installed.

But right in the very first screen of FFXIVconfig you choose language...all he needs to do is change there to english and it will fix this problem.
