Add a Parser that only the player can see.

That's a very important note there.

I didn't like parsers at first, but if people just gave it a chance, I'm sure many players would find even another fun part about this game.

Optimizing my DPS and beating my records have become a game within a game for me, and it makes content a lot more fun IMO. You don't have to be bad because you don't use parsers, but in most cases, you work harder to get those high numbers if you see how you're doing.

I compete with other players too, which makes it even more fun, and you also get a little better picture of what DPS you should be doing. You can't go 100% based on it, because the majority get below average DPS actually, but you can at least by decent at it, and then start improving even more.

When I say compete, I don't mean that I tell random people I've beat them on DPS or something... I leave all talk about DPS to FC and statics, but you can still compete with them without saying anything.

This leads me to one very important part if they were to introduce an in-game parser for yourself only... It has to somehow give you feedback on how well you're doing

The feedback would be mostly for casual players that don't want third-party parser, so it shouldn't tell them they are doing bad DPS if they don't hit those numbers hardcore progression players can get, but it should at least guide them to average DPS.

I main paladin, so usually I don't get to play the parsing game, but after lockout was lifted I could go into t10+ on my monk and my god it's been fun trying to beat myself every single time and trying to improve on the class as it is my offspec.

Why not use examples that might actually arise. Fairly sure the general consensus is a parser is only of real use in coil, as that is the only content with any sort of meaningful DPS check
No-ones interested in identifying who's pulling the numbers in Toto-rak lmao

I think it would be good to have a personal parser.

It would help people fine tune their approach to their class, if people ask for your numbers there are a few ways to look at it.

Their official statement concerning Parsers is that they don't want harassment of other players, so I chose this example just to show that if the parser was in the game situations like that could be prevented, ofcourse some kiddo comes around taking it for parsing low level roulette.... OMG

If you're not clearing an enrage timer/dps checks with little to no dps deaths then it's valuable. I strictly spoke in a sense where the information is actually useful. And the implementation I suggested does well to alleviate the issue of "getting flamed for poor dps in random content". Just turn your public setting off if you want to see your dps and not display it to other players.

Of course people with third party parsers are going to still see your dps. If they bothered to comment on it and you're doing something trivial like a dungeon you have a couple of options. You could either improve, report, or laugh at them and shrug it off.

Honestly, I'm fairly skeptical about how a parser in game would help much aside from ps4 raiders. Most of the people that QQ about people calling out dps don't really sound like they ever want to improve anyway and a lot are unsettlingly okay with being outdps'd by a tank in their tank stance.
