Sadly, this one won't be connected to the dissidia timeline and is generally considered a reboot.
I'm not so happy with it tbh, I mean. I'm pleased that the chances are very high that it will be coming out on ps4 eventually (Apparently the machines for play are modified ps4s) and the only weak point of the two games were that online play was a no. With PS4 it should very much be possible, but it looks like Team Fabulous are missing and logically, there can't be so much storyline in it because of that.
What made Dissidia a good franchise in it's own right was that it technically was a very good fighting game -- but there was it's own storyline. And it was a really, really inventive and good one -- and the surprise of that storyline also performing as an updated FF1 storyline was some seriously good storytelling (made even cuter because it's release coincided with FF's 25th anniversary - but that's sentimentality talking.)
I'm also really skeptical over "reboot", as well as the fact they've outsourced the game because the creators wanted to work on theatrhythm instead -- something that requires way less time and thought than Dissidia. I know Team Ninja are fantastic, but Dissidia's gameplay wasn't a weak point. To outsource to a company and development team which aren't known for having any depth or complexity in their games -- just generic tournament battles -- is super-offputting. Even more offputting, to me personally, unsure about anyone else, is if storyline is a no, we won't get to see the amazing conversations Y'shtola and WoL could have.
