I was quite the fan of being able to seek. The recruitment system is a good complement to the system that was already in place. I'd much rather just post in the thread and agree than do the signed thing. Unless I subtlety do it in the form of bold face.

I have a feeling they're worried about people seeing how low populations on servers really are, or something. They removed the population numbers from party search and I'd guess that's probably why they haven't added another search feature yet. If this is a real issue for them then perhaps considering server merges would be a wiser idea since they dont even have a release date for PS3 release and we probably wont see a surge of new players until then.

Seriously. having a central gathering location like Jeuno or Whitegate where people shout to gather parties and search with ease for flags is so critical to FFXI, and it is a critically missing function so far in FFXIV.
