It's not like we have a credible way to report the /tells though. I mean it's like this: GMs get a report about a /tell gil seller ok... screenshots can be edited and forged and word of mouth definitely ain't good enough to warrant a ban (this helps protect innocent people from revenge reporting).

The reporting system does NOT give the GMs a copy of the chat meaning there is no way for the GMs to see the validity of a /tell gil seller report. That is flawed big time. To top it all off, they delete their characters after a round of gil selling tells so the GMs can't investigate who was being reported cuz they now go by different names.

So until SE allows the GMs to receive a guaranteed unedited snip of chat logs and give GMs better ways to track down accounts such as a list of character names that were recently deleted so the GMs can find the accounts of these /tell sellers regardless of them deleting their characters or not, we are not going to see this end... ever. SE has a very poorly designed system in place end-of-story.

or you can block tells and not be bothered or make your status busy

I had this on FREE-TO-PLAY games like Megaten and Lucent-Hearts. Deleting a charackter took 2 days! Not just 1mins like here .-.

It's a pain, but just clear your blacklist of older entries occasionally. These guys abandon these accounts after a few days max so it's not like you are going to start getting tells from old names on your blist.

/busy is nice for peace and quiet but its super annoying. people cant invite you people cant trade you and legit people can't whisper you. its a pain in the ass to have to play in busy mode just because SE doesnt give 2 shits about rmt. they are relentless on cactuar and not being on busy pretty much means 5 tells per minute all day everyday.

It used to not bother me too much but lately it is just out of control on Sargatanas. It is really really irritating. The dings, the filling up of my log, the fact that SE seems to make zero progress in slowing them down. I'm sure I could write a filter that blocks 80% of them if given the chance. SE should enable a chat filter option.

Half the tells I get have the word GOLD in them and no one says GOLD in FFXIV because its GIL. So there's your first clue right there. >.>

I'll just put this here, chat logs go through the server to reach the player, in a proper client server system everything should be logged, every connection so if something goes wrong you can see exactly what was happening at that time. This is the same with chat logs, everything you have said for at least 24hrs (no idea how long they keep them for) is stored on the server, if you report an RMT a GM just pulls up the chat logs from the server searches for the character you are reporting and BAM!! an unedited snip of the chatlog which we cannot falsify.

And to track accounts of characters? X character ID is linked to one account they can see that but what use is that when they can use any false information to create more accounts, ban their IP or mac, they will use a new one or spoof it, ban any account information they will just use fake information, ban CC numbers, they will just connect to the dark net and buy more. Account bans are 100% useless as they can be made and all information used in registration can be faked.

Honestly, they make reporting goldseller spam so inconvenient that it's almost like they don't want to get reports. Anything that involves pressing more than two or three buttons, people just aren't going to bother with. In any event they get through so many different characters that reporting/blocking them individually is like trying to nail jelly to a wall. I've made a new character and had spam from half a dozen different goldfarmers before the intro cutscene is even finished loading, it's ridiculous, and it means that going /busy is the only sensible way of avoiding it, which just makes for a negative social experience all round.

With the exception of the last few days for me it's usually not horrible.

All I'd ask for is, if permanent bans went out, that a little marker would appear by the character name on my blacklist so I can remove them.

1. It's very easy for them to bot to any level - that just makes it harder on new players.

4. Some of it is CCs from gil buyers (RMTs are not nice!) and others are from abusing charge backs to refund the sub. Problem is, these companies are not in the same country as the host company, so legal action is not possible.

But it's also the name of a color and important crafting mats. Filtering on gold alone would be bad. ._.
