Why are people complaining about not getting invited to a party without good gear? Right now we have R10s running around in R50 armor. Not the gear that's the problem, it's thenoob playersfact that any rank can wear any armor.

Skill != Gear
Skill > Gear
Skill + Gear = God
I can see VIT mages being still possible. Might have to wait till 1.20 but possibly through gear and accessories, just have to make sure the VIT gear favours the mage Class.
Edit: Oh and don't forget Materia!
To: Yoshida-san and All,
I'm really glad to see Physical Level finally go away. Now we can actually switch from a Mage Class to a War Class without waiting for ~nearly a DAY or more to keep "Reassigning Points" every few hours to make a switch.
It also means we won't suffer as much on Crafting and Gathering Classes when we switch classes (since our Stats switch when we switch).
I agree with Doc that it would've been nice to have the slight Stat Customization happen along with 1.19, but at least we're getting it next patch or so after. That aspect clearly wasn't ready to be done yet I suppose.
This is a great update. :)Quote:
A system whereby players can voluntarily allocate attribute points to each class will be implemented in patch 1.20 or later, along with class balance adjustments.
This one is the best part. I'm so looking forward to 1.19 where it means we can actually have +5 / +7 STAT Rings and other pieces of gear with Stat Bonuses actually work and make an impact on Combat. ;) Right now, moving around 200+ Stat Points with Reassigning Physical Level... what tiny percentage of help does that +5 STR really do for you?Quote:
Attributes will be made to have greater impact.
Hopefully from 1.19 and on we can see a real difference. :)
But I agree with others on this part:
I'm guessing it means we'll get fewer(?) Stat Point increases as we near (Level) 50, but we'll see increased Stats from Equipment? So... will SE be changing the +7 Stat Rings to be... +10 Stat Rings?Quote:
The impact of attributes will decrease as players gain in level; however, the benefits granted by gear will be increased.
Personally, I just want to see Stats Mean something again so that SE could keep the +5 Stat Rings as +5, and that "+5 STAT" would add a noticeable difference. So wearing 3 or 4 STAT Rings makes a good difference. Give us items that have value again.
Also 1 request for the Development Team:
* Can we please get some confirmation (or hint at least) as to the correlation between:
* STRENGTH vs. Attack Bonus
* DEX vs. Accuracy Bonus
* PIE vs. Magic Accuracy Bonus
* INT vs. Magic Potentcy Bonus
?
Is it like FF XI with a certain amount of Base Stat = a certain amount of Other Stat (like 2 DEX = 1 Accuracy)?
It would be good to know since you're re-evaluating all Stats and adjusting their formulas.
Thanks! :)
I'm not sure.. its like everyone feels less diversity and choice/consequence is good? Meh.
I liked the fact if you were a DoM orientated character then your were weaker as a DoW, and visa versa.
Guess now were all just come out the same cookie cutter build till 1.20.
Hopefully I'll get full access to my points again in 1.20+ and push myself down a pure DoW build again.
But i doubt it somehow.
I certainly hope so, and would like to see the amount of allocatable attribute points grow with level.
If a few attribute points do make a big difference, we don't need to be able to allocate them all or it could quickly become a mess. We just need a few bonus points to add to the pre-determined floor stats that are automatically allocated on level up.
Having one allocatable point every second level gained would be cool, it means at level 30 you have 15 attribute points you can use to customize your character and put emphasis on the role you want to play.
Any illusion of choice and stat customization now is just that, an illusion.
Right now 80-90% of our battle and crafting performance is set in by the weapon or tool in our hands and any battle stats on our gear. then it is ever so slightly modifyed by our physical stats. If a player with 20 int at rank 30 can nuke as hard or harder then a rank 30 player with "Mage stats". You know something is rotten in Denmark. We are already running around with "Cookie cutter" stats and performance. Its the handles that do nothing on the outside of the tin that fool people into thinking they have some kind of input.
As long as it fixes stats and we can steer away from the tom-foolery that is bikini dungeon runs(that while funny, kind of add emphasis to the fact that stats currently mean jack) then I'm all for it. I just hope that future stat allocation really does mean something once they re-implement it later on.
The whole "stats will mean less the farther in rank you are, while gear will matter more" schtick is a bit worrying, but I'll have to give it a shot before saying anything meaningful.
