That's more like a family status thing isn't it? Or more like stereotype, as in men only eat corn flakes and women make sandwiches? I'm genuinely curious about this suggestion. :3

The way they talk.

I act like a female in DF and coil pickups because I think it's hilarious when we meet in voip and my voice is 2-3 octaves lower than everyone else's.

By talking to people and getting to know them over the course of a friendship or other kind of casual/platonic relationship. I've ended up dating a couple of people that I met online while gaming. One of them I'd known since college and talked ingame and on the phone for hours with (this was back when VoIP wasn't a thing and landlines were the norm). The other was in my guild and we'd known each other for about a year and gotten to know each other over normal conversations, sharing music, and doing things together ingame.

For some reason, people think I'm a dude no matter what race/gender I play.

Curious that this topic makes no mention of male characters being played by women.

In any case, my answer is that I don't actively identify the RL gender of a player because I generally don't care and consider it none of my business. If I wanted to "eternally bond" my character to another character, I wouldn't be particularly concerned as to the gender of the player since I already have one RL marriage :P

I have both in my roleplaying group... And frankly... One I knew from the start from the way he chatted. Guys tend to be more openly lewd or overtly sexual, females will be a bit more low key and subtle but they may laugh or contribute just as much.

Also with roleplayers it skews thing more, but I tend to notice males being more likely to use a lot of different hairstyles... Girls are more likely to try the new hairstyles in changing but tend to stick to one style mainly. Females tend to take a lot more care with their looks, ensuring classy combinations of color and style (they may also be gay men as females, but it's more likely they actually play a guy). Guys are more like complete the set, or go for an outlandish theme like pirate or classy Ninja or sexy cosplay. Girls justvtry to look good and coordinated.

You could just not worry about it, cuz it's not really your business. If they want you to know, they'll tell you.

Really, the best way is to ask, or to hear them on a VOIP.

I have a habit of jumping around when bored because the men of my FC do that. And sometimes I do glamour revealing outfits, because why not?

i just assume..

1. 95% of female characters are males
2. 50% of male characters are girls to avoid being hit on lol

most of my female gamer friends play males just for that reason alone ;/

Wait, you're a girl?! Just kidding. Well, the name pretty much gives you a hint, which is not always accurate. For example, in your case, "Ashkendor" doesn't sound "girly", in my opinion but I wouldn't risk and say you're either a girl/guy based on that, since there're a several factors to be considered. As for me, I usually guess it, it's like a gut feeling. It's not like it really matters because, in the end, we're all just human beings. Of course there might be people interested on their true genders, because they either want to find their SO or whatever reason.

Personally, I've witnessed some creepy dudes stalking female characters around. I had guys in my FC who revealed themselves as male players and they pretty much got insulted by said guys. Being a girl is scary.

Getting hit on is super annoying and I would punch them until the become a pile of aether.
