CE Regional Differences - Let's Talk About Them

Are we REALLY that shocked though?

This CE business has been going on for ages with Japanese releases getting far superior packaging and contents.

I will be disappointed, but not at all surprised if the NA and EU editions are cheap versions with no display box and paper sleeves rather than actual cases. I also still to this day can\\\\'t understand why Japanese FF titles always have the beautiful Amano packaging and artwork, and the rest of us get slapped with CGI images that have been overdone time and time again.


I think the real issue that needs to be looked at here is the marketing departments for Square Enix in the NA and EU regions. I\\\\'ve been saying this for years ever since the merger occurred, but please PLEASE start hiring employees and placing people in charge who CARE about your products. The NA store is PATHETIC compared to the counterparts

I would like this matter looked into. I have the option of buying the CE or not. Would like to have the plastic hard case for the bluray case with the nice artwork on it. I really feel that is what I am paying for. I think a moderator from the team needs to get on here and give a direct answer. WE can go round and round all we want, insult jp or each other but that will get us nothing. Let's hope we get a moderator on here right away and see what they have to say. In the mean time I also sent a note off to the se na store support asking for a more direct answer as well. Let's see what I get back.

Lets get serious here.

In today's day and age it is not at all difficult to carry the same products as your Japanese store, yet we literally have 1/8th the amount of product available to us. You do realize we would all buy it.


Start hiring people that want to drive your company forward and make it money, not do the easy bare minimum of marketing and work to sustain sales...which is exactly how I have seen things since day one.

And why don't we ever get the nice packaging... Bravely Second has a beautiful edition, extremely doubtful we'll ever see anything remotely similar here.

Was close to pulling trigger on physical CE but western downgrades making reconsider. Was already debating if it was worth it when I was going off of JP version images.

Aw, that is a bit disappointing - unless they're old photos for the NA/EU side it looks like approximately NA pays the same as JP but gets worse and EU is... yeah.. They're just on their own. xD

I know I liked the NA artwork last time but I think that Dragoon on the JP cover is pretty awesome (liked NA more last time because I felt the logo seriously clashed with the classic FF Amano artwork, not so much this time).

Considerably far too late but perhaps for next time or maybe my own preference but I really like steel cases, I jumped on that Dark Souls 2 Pre-order for its nice steel case (and the CE was a limited time free upgrade, like really.. if you're going to pay full price... get an upgrade right? lol).

Got to love how even the DVD case has different art. To bad they are region locked, would much rather have the jp version. :(

Someone on Reddit brought up that there is a disclaimer on post #4 of Bayohne's Live Letter Digest thread from this past Saturday. Under the "Dragonsong War Box" it reads: "Please note that packages designs will differ between regions."

This pretty much confirms our fears about the display packaging. A response from an SE rep would still be nice, though.

This can be interpreted as two different things one the whole box itself is different or just the art which I think is probably the main difference among them while still retaining the display case that it is but that's just me being optimistic here.

I'm hoping you're right, though the fact that the European image of the box has a seam at the top is still bothersome. It makes it look as if it opens differently than the Japanese box.

The white on black Amano art pictured in the European image is identical to the Japanese version, but we haven't seen the entire box. That art is absent from the NA image altogether, though.
