I would love to see pets be able to provide raid buffs at the expense of their DPS. Maybe something like - Ifrit - Inner Fire - Ifrit stops attacking and channels an ability that increases damage dealt by all party members by 10% for 15 seconds. Ifrit cannot attack or move during this time.

Of course, this would have to be tested to balance it properly, but at least it would add some utility.

I use swiftcast for DPS. Maximizing SMN damage is all about clipping DoTs as close as possible. For example, if bio II and miasma are going to fall off at around the same time, I'll slow cast one and then swiftcast the other one. SMN MP has been greatly improved from the patch. Anyone who was expecting big game changes from this patch is delusional. They're working on finishing the expansion. Any big changes are going to be have to taken into account. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm hoping for more focus on the pets in the expansion. I really do hope they think about splitting up summoner and scholar into separate class/jobs.

Ok, we see this with the expension. But, as it stands now having that extra raise in any FIGHT is a big plus for many groups. In fact, I've been asked many times in many fights to be the "Rasier" saving whms and sch time and mp. "Raid Utility"

Also, keep in mind adding unneeded Raid Utility to a stand alone job makes that ability worthless to the job. Just look at Bard, all those songs are worthless outside of raids or group fights.

Case in point: If your going to improve a job try adding Helpful abilities to the job first. Now, I feel a "Mana Well, a shadow flare like well that would give of a small amount of mp per sec. placed on the battle field by the smn to be used by all" spell would be helpful to the smn and raid teams. Dont mess with their pets, pets belong to the smn not and anyone else.

I remember reading somewhere that Smn were the one's that raised people first do to the fact that Healers had to focus on healing and it saved the healers a good bit of mana.

On to the topic: Would it be so bad if SE gave Smn a Mp version of Goad?

Though I do not agree with most of your other points, I do like this idea. There are many, MANY ways to add utility to the class. I would be on board with something like this for sure. The battle res is not useful in FCoB solely because most FCoB mechanics punish party members dying anyways. Battle rez is an incredible help in all other content, just not FCoB.

"Not everyone cares about FCOB." Only thinking of everything in terms of FCOB is not realy going to help Smns. The buff to Smns mp is useful. I still stand by the idea of not adding worthless " Raid spells " to a known stand alone job. What would really help Smns is " better gear meant only for Smns" As it stands now Smn havnt gotten any new gear meant for them in 2 patches. Sadly, most of the WOD gear is the BEST many Smns can ask for at this time, since its mostly lacking spell speed. This raid Ulitily idea needs to put to rest. All jobs cant only fuction for Raids only. We still have 98% of the rest of the game to think about.

Way too many short sighted People in here!! Smn plays fine now but patch after patch the flaws will show, until SE seperate smn and sch, sch will continue to hold back smn.

As someone who FCOBs weekly, I don't feel a huge significant difference in damage, but in mp management. Like if I had to, I can ress someone and still have enough mp to do my damage. That's how good it is for just mp. Other than that, it's only a measily +/-5 dps increase cause yay.. I get to ruin II then fester and book smack for a little bit. I gotta limit myself still though. It's not a huge change that makes SMN great for competitive raiding; people would still rather bring BLM > SMN. So yeah, it's a good change for people who are really casual, but I'm not satisfied and I can tell that the BLM who used to be SMN would still rather be BLM since SMN still has some existing problems.

I have mentioned this before on how to change SMN without changing SCH. Some examples are Fester, Tri-disaster, Spur, Enkindle, and SMN egis. Basically anything that is part of the SMN soul crystal and none of the traits and skills that are from ACN.

Of course, there are some people here who have a blind eye to this cause they don't know how it is like to play a SMN in endgame content and a bit competitively (not to say I'm the best or anything), especially when FCOB came out on the first week (downed t10 on first week but had lots trouble with mp and keeping up the damage). They have no idea how insignificant it feels to be out-dps'd by a really good BLM and be last on dps with everyone who knows how to play competitively. I had to work harder than ever in progression and it was pretty stressful cause I thought I was holding my team back since we were a highly progressed group (not hardcore - difference).

I want something to happen before the new raid (Alexander) comes out so that SMN aren't neglected by the hardcore and competitive statics/FC's out there. Probably a bit much to ask, but there should be some kind of balance cause as of right now there still is no unique point in bringing SMN if new endgame content were to come out right now.

Utility wise You know what I would do. I would let Titan give the party bonus stats, just for the sole reason he isn't used in COils. Defense up, magic defense up. have titan cover someone. Also give each summon there own GDC. really dont like that they share the GDC.

I'm guessing that what they were trying to do at the beginning, but it didn't work out because of Enkindle. If it was like that you could have ifrit enkindle then switch to garuda and have her enkindle, and that's too much damage for a Smn, but BLM can have a double flare and (*Rant*) (*Rant*) (*Rant*).
