So don't do it. Seriously, problem solved. S.E. doesn't have a gun to your head demanding it be completed,I have never taken a single relic past +1 and it hasn't inhibited my game play in the slightest. You can get way more powerful weapons much easier. My buddy tested his new maxed out relic against the ironworks and lost 40 dps off his rotation. Every other weapon in the game> Relic.

Yes the relic quest is boring.

I love everything about Zodiak quest. The only one I strongly disagree is the Alexandrite farm..I can cope atma farm... But trying to get SENVENTY FIVE Alex is a joke (On top of that you cannot get a perfect stat weapon unless you are rich) . I'm happy with everything else.

I'm hoping for a new quest chain to be more like the original reliq quest with some unique trials and an achievement-based progression.

Yes, SE, we know you like to dangle relic progression as a carrot to get us back to running older content and moving queues and FATES along for newer players, but the RNG+recycled content bit could use a break.

The original quest (chimera, HM primals) is really good and fun. But these books are...retarded

I agree. I liked the original quest from 2.0. I think that it was a very well done. I also think that they, SE, have been testing out ways to make the quest line better. I think that, moving forward, more of the relic quest line will be like the current incarnation of the zodiac quest line. It seems to give players what they had been asking for.

In the original quest we farmed Hamlet Defense 2 months long to get 3 beastmen seals in each Hamlet. Putting millions of gil into the Hamlet delivery ranking list. Only those in the top 3 got a 100% dropchance.
Oh, and doublemelding a crafted weapon, with 18% success chance for the second materia.

The 2.0 relic quest is not the original version, it is the nerfed version, changed for those who don't have time and gil.

I will not even start describing how the relic weapon quest was in FFXI then, I think it might give you a seizure.

(Jokes aside, I agree I would have liked some cutscenes and history behind the weapons myself)

so far my main gripe with atma is waiting for these damn mobs to respawn

Yeah I'm in the process of completing my books for my NIN atma/animus and the grind is atrocious. I don't mind a grind at all, but the tasks are so monotonous. I especially love having to complete low level dungeons as DPS and staying in queue for 30 mins just to get into a group that "vote abandon"s because someone is struggling.

If it's going to be a mindless grind, I would rather each book just had "kill 100 enemies", "complete x amount of dungeons", "complete x amount of fates", etc more lIke the challenge log. It would allow a little more flexibility so I don't spend so much time waiting around for a specific FATE or Dungeon to pop.
