LOL, This dude must be crazy.
Do what you want. This kid is ridiculous..
Also, if black pearl rings are a dime a dozen, then why am I the only person on the server with a full set of them, and the only +1 on the server?

Because you're the only one who cares. Mining up oysters is a waste of my time. What's it going to give me? 1 magic accuracy? 1 defence? Gil? Get out of here with those trifles.
Yup, but you much rather worry about getting an HQ alch tool. Lol.
You ever wonder why you have 200 million gil? It's because you just don't get it. We're taking advantage of you. None of us value it as an asset and we're more than happy to use you as a dump site. You farm oysters. You piddly-dink around with slugs getting secretions. You synth and synth, then make a product we gladly exchange for incidental trash gil that the game generates.
I can beat you at everything you make on your goldsmith with the mining advantage. Your only hope is that I never care about your gil enterprising.
My only hope is that you try. I been in the "game" too long for you to ever come step on any toes. Son. What's your master plan?!? Undercut me? Lol, Okay like I don't have people doing that already.
Oh by the way, let me know if you'd like a black pearl ring, I have a few for sale.
You spend your time synthing for someone else, and their useless craft yet I'm criticized for making millions because gil means nothing right now?
Great point, keep 'em coming.
Anyone doing electrum rings 40+ is wasting their time. I was 39 when needles were nerfed and I never touched electrum rings until about 45. I was lucky to have a CRP supplying me coral, mixed with silver rings and tier 1 gem rings. Then I made all my chakrams. I avoided electrum like the plague otherwise I could have beaten Scarface and Nummy to 50. It just wasn't worth the gil sink. I did them when I got desperate until I discovered a better synth half way into 47. I hid away in the back of the THM guild synthing franciscas so that the next generation of crafters wouldn't notice what I was skilling on. You doing franciscas yet Peregrine? ;)
Gil will mean something in the future, but 100mil will probably keep you going for the lifetime of this game considering you'll be making more at a nice pace. I don't mind making small amounts off quick synth jewellery as it all adds up. Especially when people are silly enough to pay high prices for worthless HQs. But even that market has been exhausted now. That said, I've no intention to go anywhere near a billion.
Anyway what was this thread about again? Slot cost? I made a thread about this and HQ issue in the synthing forum when the forums were new but everyone over-looked it. I believe slot cost should be removed and instead have a cap on the number of accessories. 5 is a good number. But then I'll just equip four rings and a choker. Problem with earrings and bracelets is almost all of these items have unappealing stats. When they add some that people want, people will use them. HQs need to add to the right stats. A +3 garnet ring should give me 10 STR.
What I want to see is jewellery that can't be spammed. None of this digging up a few gold ore and gems and spamming synths. I want gems to be rare. It keeps the market from getting flooded. Hopefully they'll get it right with tier 3 rings.
This is still a problem. Any news on potential changes?
Well, it really is a problem for all crafts 40+. It's hard to get materials to craft all of them and it's hard to sell the stuff you make. There are only three categories that all crafts have something they can make and probably sell right now. Weapons, Armor, and maybe Food. All available crafts have at least one synth in one of those categories. I'm not saying it's fair in the sense that we can't make gil off of what we want to sell, but it's somewhat fair that we are all restricted in some way. =( I mean I'm a culinarian, and you don't think I feel these same effects?
(P.S. I don't do the whole grind fish down into sand stuff that a lot of culinarians do. I make honest food and try to sell actual dishes. The whole ability that culinarians can do that is just a waste of fish and shards. Those fish could be shards, crystals, or useful food. The only reason I'm still at 45 is because I make actual dishes, and try to sell it. I have an entire retainer just for food materials because it takes like 6-8 mats per synth. I keep all my food and sell or give away to my LS most of it. It's not much, probably the same you higher ranked goldsmiths can make from npcing all your rings, but I try. My point is, everyone is restricted in one way or another. I find it a little unfair that you think one class is particularly harder than another just because you do it. )
You don't get it. First off, culinarians and alchemists (your two classes) make disposable goods, which means that the market will always be there, and will continue to grow as people find out the effects of items you make are useful. The problem Goldsmithers have is something you cannot relate to.
First, our goods are not disposable, or at least are not intended to be. That means that once an item is entered into circulation a certain amount of times...it will become essentially worthless. This is a problem faced by all the other crafters but your two main crafts, and though annoying is fairly common in MMO economies.
Secondly, Goldsmiths face an additional, and ridiculous, restriction not forced on any other class. We have recipes for bracelets, neck wear, and earrings that barely get used by most players because you're only allowed to wear 12 "slot points" worth of jewelery. You can't even wear a full set of top tier rings! That would be like telling a Weaver that if someone buys their most extravagant pants, the customer would not be able to equip a shirt, gloves, or shoes because they've overspent their slot cost for clothes. This is causing an artificially suppressed demand which makes goldsmithing, which is supposedly the biggest risk/reward craft in the game according to SE, all risk and no reward. It is currently impossible to make real profit on any jewelery in goldsmithing right now (besides maybe black pearl rings which require Cooking), and that is absurd.
