Then whenever we get to a boss or there is a particular strategy for a certain pack of enemies that is outside the norm, I will quickly explain what to do even if it is just something as simple as "dodge aoe's and kill adds asap".
However, if you are running a lvl.50 dungeon, I do expect you to know the basics of how to run dungeons and how to play your job and role. For example, if I mark priority targets I expect you to treat them as such since I mark them for a reason, if we are fighting a pack of 4+ enemies use aoe's instead of just single targeting enemies, don't run ahead and facepull things especially if you are new and don't know the layout and location of enemies in the dungeon, and for f**k's sake don't cast regen or med 2 at the start of a pull and if you have the HoT effect still on you click it off before the next pull.
I am always more than happy to work with someone that is new to certain content and teach them, but I will not just carry you through it.
That being said, yes there are jerks and impatient people out there and they can really spoil your fun. Best thing to do is to just not stoop to their level and engage them as that only tends to incite them even more, making the situation escalate and also to try to avoid them by seeking out other friendly and like minded players by using tools like the Party Finder or joining a good Free Company. If you are using the Duty Finder, unfortunately it is a bit unavoidable and you just need to be prepared for anything. -

End game attitude is exactly like that and if it doesn't stop FFXIV will stagnant due to the complete and total discouragement for new players to want to keep playing with these attitudes. But all MMOs fall down this path after awhile where the end-game people have no more patience for the content anymore and the newer players still are able to enjoy the content.
From the older player's perspective I can understand their hurry. Things get old fast and they are just there to farm whatever to advance their own characters and have completely worn out all interest in the content for those particular dungeons. But I also think it's an older player's responsibility to be more helpful and patient to newer players because without new players, the game stagnates and dies. -

I'll have to agree with people saying it's really due to SE incorporating old content into new quests like Zodiac Weapons.
You are using Duty Finder so, you can't control who you're going to get, and if you do get a player who finds it more efficient to speed through it, they certainly will. It goes both ways though. Things could be said in order to make you more comfortable, but let's not forget you're way late to the party compared to most and I would find it kind of annoying for someone to want me to slow down my play because of it.
Duty Finder is at random you're placed with people of different goals and interests and neither of you are completely at fault except for that you're not completely designing how you want to play. If you want an experience you need to design a party for an experience and not fault something you KNOW isn't going to get you the outcome you want. This is something all MMOs have with old content being implemented the way SE chose to and it isn't going to change. -

The go go mentality is pervasive I admit and that is mainly due to dungeon design and gear inflation of the game. I will also go fast since I've been in most dungeons so many times but if someone wants to slow down a bit or needs an explanation, I have no problem with it.Quote:

Brucey I understand your point about the content and efficiency. But you can't fault someone for being "late to the party" or you get an MMO that completely shuts out new players from experiencing the MMO and, as the original poster mentioned, it just makes new players feel crappy and can lead to losses of potential fresh players, thus stagnating the game.

I'm usually WHMing, so I usually use myself as a deterent from them running in without the healer.... thus waiting until I explain =p (doesn't always work, though...)
