I'd like to be able to play a kid character

Maybe this is off topic, or maybe not, but I'd like the option for an older female face as well. There are older male faces available, so why not female?

Elezen and Hyur have a "youthful face" choice, for your character face type. It makes you look like your in your early-mid teens. Choose that face and the shortest height, And your good to go.

There is even a 'freckles' choice, in the tattoo section of character creation, to add to the affect.

Don't just pick lallafel.

They dont have to be kids, why not teenagers like Alphinaud Leveilleur and his sister? Personaly I find the playable Elezen to ugly, but Alphinaud Leveilleur looks so good, I would reroll fast.

It's not a terrific idea. There's already child-like races in the game - and they are walking right along the line with even that. I'd be very disappointed if they had to restrict content ala Mass Effect 3 where we could no longer even see boobs because of one obnoxious child's presence that barely added anything to the story. It's not worth it, really. They would have to tone down the content too much.

The reason there will never be child characters (not to be confused with child-like, but that's even pushing it) in MMOs is due to the unregulated online interactions: ie the interactions between players. In the case of child characters, in the US at least, it becomes a matter of legality when said interaction is of a sexual nature. When interactions with child characters become sexual it then falls under child pornography.

I can definitely see how if characters explicitly were intended to be children, labeled as children, (etc, etc, etc) that this may cause all sorts of issues within the community and for the developers [eg, perceived socially unacceptable]. That said, I think this is an issue per the request of the OP that you're going to have to "RP" on.


Perhaps the developers can simply up the height-range of races, given (with the exception of Roe's) that there's very little difference to the point that alot of people don't even notice it [without explicitly looking].

--Since this thread is delving into "that" direction again, I'd like to remind everyone that short != child. ... despite that the OP is seeking playable child-races.

I was always hoping they'd make the padjal playable. But I understand lore-wise why that may not be possible :P

Except that they look nothing like a toddler, bar the size.

Either that or you must be encountering some strangely deformed toddlers IRL.
