You gain a little bit of top from getting hit. You gain more TP from evading attacks, parrying, and blocking. Outmaneuver increases the amount of you gain from blocking, closer to that of actually hitting the enemy.
good to know.
Guard should work as Defender do, that's all. You raise it, you get it down.
If they absolutely refuse to add an auto guard, yes, Guard skill should have like.... 20 times the current duration. The other shield abilities can stay the same to match the wield rate. There should also be a skill added for parrying if they increase guard duration. I think it is unfair to Marauders and i guess pugilists and lancers that their parry is automatic if they do increase the duration of guard.
I would say the trait 'Self-Preservation' should be the trait to greatly increase the guard skill duration this way, instead of just a measly 50%. For the guard skill, it should increase guards duration 10-20 times or so. For the shield abilities, 50% longer is good enough.
I feel like adding auto guard would be a great way to even out gladiator, but at the same time would easily make him one of the better classes. Personally I have no problem with tanks and healers being on the more over powered side seeing as how they're such a vital role in all parties, not to mention most people serious enough about the game will probably have at least 1 other DD class maxed out as a backup.
We talked to shield master Matsui about the possibility of auto-block implementation and he said that they are going to be eliminating the "Guard" ability, which will lead to the shield block activating on its own in the future.
I like this. I mean, if I were carrying a shield I would attempt to block every one of my enemies attacks. Now I think it would of been fine if you could toggle blocking off and on (like the 'stance' idea discussed in PUG forums) which would have allowed one to have higher defense when shield was enabled, but slower/weaker attacks, and vice versa when shield down. Will be interesting to see when/how implemented
