Novus Vs the Un-Weathered Weapons...what gives?

Same point applies.

By the time most people get an High-Allegan weapon, a superior weapon that is easier to get will show up. So yes, they would skip it.

The Relic/Zodiac weapon path is mainly for those who want customized stats and a weapon they'd like to keep for the long haul.

That's completely irrelevant though, as there is a jump in weapon damage. You would be better off comparing a Novus to an unweathered weapon.

Secondary stats on weapons only aren't going to make any significant difference in DPS (apart from accuracy in certain situations). Even 5% is rather generous given what you have shown above.

This is why you are better off getting a soldiery weapon and just doing whatever activity provides a new weapon rather than going through the pain of relic for 0.5% increase in DPS.

My personal un-favorite was Atma. Friggin RNG crap. That's what keeps me from doing another Novus.

I feel the same way on ATMA. SE is going to need to buff this. Players have been begging for this for a while. I'd personally Animus my Relics but can't bring my self to do the Atma part.

on a funny note I'm not even trying to get Atma's but I've gotten 4 Atmas doing the Daily Hunt Mark fate Monsters. Hilarious.:D now ATMA's are just messing me.

if it wasn't for Atma i would have a Novus done by now with how many Allied Seals i have and how many myth materials i've sold for gil.

still only ever gotten 5 Atma since the quest was released.

I just feel an incoming epic nerf to atma and animus. Coz, with soldiery uncapped in the near future, a 110 UAT would be a bit too much faceroll to ignore for new players ( and us wanting to gear alts )

Depending on the abilities you put on your Novus, the secondaries will equate to being stronger than unweathered. But arguably not by much.


I see them nerfing Atma though. It's way too easy to get unweathered i110 now. And with hunts, I think it's actually easier to finish your Novus than it is to finish the Atma quest.

But the new relic upgrade is coming and it would be nice if Atma was a little bit easier for new people. Just providing alternatives would be fun.

When I say "I've compared", of course I took into account the increased weapon damage in the calculation. The difference is still "only" 6%.

The OP asked if Novus is worth it :
- Is it better than unweathered ? Undoubtedly, even if the difference is not groundbreaking
- Is it worth the gil spent ? A cheap Novus is still better, and there's not much item to spend lots of gils into anyway, so yes, it's worth it.

It's not the best in the game, never has been, never will be.

It was created to give those who afraid to raid a weapon they have no use for.
