Request- Some form of carbuncle for Summoner.

It feels like carby was the only summon they put effort into, all others look so bad.

Someone on reddit suggested a cosmetic option that changed the egis back to carbuncles, adding a ruby carbuncle to replace Ifrit. Of course, if there's gonna be comspetic options of that nature for SMN I want some for other jobs too. :O

Garuda technically has better stats than Carbuncle because summons snapshot your stats at the time of their summoning and the Summoner Soul Crystal gives you more intelligence therefore Garuda's intelligence becomes technically higher. Also, Garuda's spell are all of a higher potency as well so even if the Soul Crystal would give you no bonus, she'd still be better than Carbuncle.

Summons do 25-30% of your total damage output, that's pretty great damage if you ask me.

You lose exactly 10 of each stat by taking off your job crystal. Not 10%.

You can make up for it to some degree by using other cross class abilities like Blood for Blood, Internal Release or (I think) Aero. I mean you're still going to be doing less DPS as the ACN, but it's not all loss.

I dunno why I typed % but good catch, I edited it. Blood for Blood if used on CD is a 2,5% damage increase over the duration of an encounter and Internal Release if used on CD is a 2,5% crit increase over the duration of the encounter and Aero is 170 potency DoT every 18 seconds. All of these do not even remotely make up for the loss of Fester(which is about ~17% of your damage output) let alone the rest of what you lose.

No, Job crystals give you 10 in all stats, except your primary. You get 20 from that.

They didn't, actually - Not only does it have different animations, it's also very different in the body shape and size. Carby from XI was more "full" in terms of body size.

Earlier when I was doing one of the main story 8 person quests for tomes, I saw a summoner's Garuda just get utterly destroyed by something. Right after the summoner commented on it, I replied, "Clearly we need a big Carbuncle instead. Folks started chatting "yes!" right afterwards.

I almost want to start working on arcanist on my main, but I just have that sad realization that Carby would eventually get replaced. I remember the days when there were Carbuncles all over the place, yet now it is rare that I see one. I want to see a parade of them sometime.

When they raise the level cap, if SMN gets a new pet as it often has been alluded that they would, I would greatly prefer a Ruby Carbuncle over anything else. That way nothing has to be retroactive for lore and we can have our beloved carbuncle back. But please whatever you do, somehow make him more useful than Garuda currently is.
