What makes this game competitive / unique?

Not much as I don't spam every thread with it... unlike other individuals.

We could write all of the features this game has, and I'm pretty sure none of them will be enough to say that the game is unique. Mostly is the Final Fantasy brand and what comes with it.

So, why are people still here? If the really hate the game, and the direction is heading I have to wonder who o what is keeping them here. I play FFXIV because it's fun to me. I've only played RO before (pre-Renewal) and at least FFXIV doesn't make me feel that to accomplish something I have to kill some mobs more than a thousand times or be a pro at PvP.

As for the other MMOs. Well, can't say much. But isn't it every time the same thing? Great expectations, huge pre-launch campaign, and then after a while they become "just another MMO behind WoW".

The graphics are still pretty impressive, but only in realism. As far as competing goes, it really doesn't have a particularly strong aspect to promote besides that (imo). Maybe that's why a tech demo and a cutscene were their primary show....

Quite frankly, many of the ideas they have included in this MMO are either copies of concepts that have been used in past games or poorly implemented versions of recent ones. The most profound issue for this game (for me at least) as been its failure to successfully innovate, or at least cleverly expand upon previous concepts.

They should work to add more cutscenes. Good ones. Until now there's only a few really good cutscenes. Imho high quality cutscenes is what made the brand what it is today. Not only the story cutscenes but also summoning cutscenes and maybe endboss dying sequences. It's a form of reward that most other MMO games don't have.

I like the idea of having cutscenes for boss deaths and such.

In all honestly the death of all mobs in the game is pretty bland and standard like most mmo's as well, just fading out of the screen, it'd be nice if the mob turned into pyreflies or something after being defeated like they did in FFX, something to jazz it up a little.

The sad life of a ffxiv player on the forums, I get on every day to see whats new and see people are so unhappy with the game yet they want other people to convince them otherwise? Seriously get off the forums and do something else if you don't like the game
