I don't think it's a matter of trial and error. They need to let us save it as a gearset and not on the gear itself. I think this is more of a limited memory problem the PS3/4 has.

I do hope they will change this. They encourage us to level multiple jobs. The experience is lost when we can't treat them as seperate jobs imo.
