can we have a differnt UI for skills

Maybe if you can provide a mock-up of what you want the UI to look like you can sway my opinion, but if you want something more like FFXIII or FFXI....no. Hated both of those with a fiery passion.

What? I didn't 'insert my opinion as fact'. I even said 'I think', is that not a clue? I'm afraid it's not an opinion that the UI is inconsistent, just look at the difference between the menus in the character select etc, the overall menu in-game and then the individual blue-box menus. They're all totally different.

I'm certainly not going to go through the effort of making a stupid UI mock up, I don't care enough. What I'd like is a cleaner, prettier interface like they've done previously. XI's interface was pretty bad, but it's also 9 years old so I'd say that's fair enough.

I would be very surprised if such an alternative system wasn't introduced before/alongside PS3 launch.

The big problem I can see with it though, and why it might not be implemented yet, is that unlike XI where you had unlimited access to all abilities on your main job/your sub jobs level now we set specific actions from a large pool. This doesn't make your system impossible (they just have to disable all non-equipped abilities from the menu) but it does make it not quite as simple to implement I'm sure.

I would go nuts if I had to use the main menu to do anything in battle.

when the ppl in this thread are saying menu im just assumig they mean a menu like in 11 that was a totally different menu that only came up in a battle
