Let's not get hasty with the talk of backlash hurting SE's income (remember, PlaySpan is not SE, and SE may not have heard about this long ago either). That said, I at least want to add another voice asking for a new alternative. I do have credit/debit cards available, but I prefer to avoid recurring card payments since I don't make that much money. Since my wife and I are both Retainer Service users, we're out of luck on time cards. So I guess I just have one question: Is there a plan in place or in the works for another non-credit card option for Crysta purchase? (I should also say I do understand that business decisions take time.)
For what it's worth, every prepaid debit card I've ever seen involves a fee to deposit money (sometimes $2 or more) and in some cases fees for purchases as well. If, like me, you're paying for each month's Crysta as it comes, that's a pretty nasty fee for a monthly charge between $13 and $19.

Count me on the boat of "Is a Legacy member, who uses UGC as their main payment method" :x
-
i been using UGC because thats the only way SE will take my money. get error every time on my other cards, and paypal also errors. looks like i am going to either pay someone to pay my sub(sarcasm) or find a way that works.
-
I'm also a legacy member and I've been using UGC since release as it was more viable for me to go down and pick one or two cards up on the way home from work rather then tossing my Credit Card (which SE seems to have issues accepting them sometimes) on the site and risk not getting anywhere. I always wondered how time cards worked for legacy and that really sucks. I really hope a new method is added quickly and I plan to discuss this on Chocobo Dash asap.

Well, poop. :(
Also a legacy who uses UGC, the paypal button refuses to work for me, so I have no other option atm, I guess?
Guess I'll have to throw up as many points as I can before my store of them just vanishes. And then figure out how the crap I'll get more crysta. ;'<

I still think they should change the time cards to crysta cards.
think about it $30.00 USD gets you 3000 crysta.
it would be more ideal if they changed those $30.00 60 day time cards to Square Enix Crysta cards.
in theory the time cards were a nice idea but they don't offer a way to use them with FFXI,
not to mention they are locked to time so you can't use them for the extra retainer service nor fantasia
-
The game cards also aren't available everywhere (Ive never seen them here in Ontario) so even if the option would work for some, they don't have access to the game cards. I really don't understand why an internationally released game would not have game cards released in all regions the game was released in. My wife and I would use game cards for XIV if they were available here. The cards should definitely be a crysta value though and not game time. Even before retainer services and fantasia, people have different account plans. Legacies and people on the "Starter" type accounts get screwed by game time cards.

Sincere question here, just wanna know.
Why do everyone seem to have panic to debit cards? i have been using a debit visa since i was 16, when i started playing ffxi, i only pay like 3-8$/year for it, and that account only holds money for online payments.
If you're under 18 or 21 depending on your country, you can open an account with an adult.
-
It won't accept my debit card only my CC. I really don't want to go through the trouble of getting another debit card on top of my bank issued ATM card because SE won't accept Interac debit cards.

I will not use a credit card online and I will not use PayPal or any service like paypal. Square Enix had better get their game card to USA. If I understand right there is a game card for the Europeans. We need that game card and fast.
