I don't want to sound rude but it's really annoying when people comment on something that they have never experienced. I'm not saying you don't have a right to comment but when you haven't even unlocked the job, you don't understand the intricacies. I play both BLM and WHM and WHM's have it a lot easier in regards to movement. Spell cast times are shorter and you don't get interrupted when the target you are casting on moves.

Idk never played blm lol but imo it's just too much to ask as a caster.
In almost every game you have little to no movement when you cast spells.
Running / sprinting and casting spells is just absurd.
Lol our spells get interuppted when someone runs behind an object.
Try pvp and you'll see how annoying that gets XD also in pve.
But yea don't expect too much from SE when they say "buff".

Healing and DPS are entirely different types of casting. A healer should not constantly be casting and, if they have to move, it's not going to hurt their effectiveness over time if they have to devote a GCD or two to healing because it's not like the tank is going to die during a forced movement phase. Even then, a WHM can still throw/refresh Regen while running around.

A DPS caster *should* be casting constantly because losing GCDs is an explicit and noticeable decrease in performance. Barring procs (which should be used immediately rather than stored because storing them is a bigger DPS loss), the only thing that a BLM can do while running is Scathe, which is pretty terrible damage. I know plenty of badass BLMs that don't even bother using Scathe when they're moving because it eats into Fire phase mp and can also clip GCDs when you do stop moving.

Um our spells get interrupted when our target runs to the side of or behind US. That doesn't happen with whm or sch casting.

Also re: Scathe:

So many theorycrafting blms get far too caught up in damage part of the equation and don't pay enough attention to the time part of it. Scathe can make a huge difference over a long fight with a lot of movement, i.e. Turn 6.

I don't feel like BLMs really need a buff in PVE.

They do need SERIOUS help in PVP. Any type of attack from a melee will interrupt the caster. Goodluck casting any 3-4sec spell.

Only time you can cast is when you swiftcast -> sleep and then once they break the sleep, welcome to interruption hell.

Not to mention, you don't have any super mitigation spells like even the WHM/SCH have (the evasion one).

So squishiest + full interruption = you never see a BLM in a PvP match

seriously, they need to FIX our spells so we can cast them while the target is out of sight but still within range.

This is just me but I barely Scathe in ANY fight. There are two reasons for that. When I get slow mana ticks on my Umbral Ice, I use Blizzard I since it's superior. The second, when I have to move away, I either Aetherial Manipulation and I have to move 1 second. I don't trigger a 2.5 GCD for 1 second, I feel it's a waste. If they buff the base damage of Scathe, I'll consider it but it's really a weak spell. I only use it as a finisher (When the mob is at 1% health) or a Renaud to kite if I have to kite. I top most fights also so I really don't see the point unless I have to move during 2.5 seconds.

2 things I'd like to see added.

1. Having Firestarter stack to 3 as previously mentioned.

2. Swap Manawall and Apoc, so Apoc is at 45, and change the effect to the following:
OGCD
60 second CD
Instantly gives the caster 3 stacks of Firestarter.

So... lets do a bit of math.
B3/F3 under the other buff = 154 pot. T2 = 295 pot. F1 = 150*1.8. F3 = 220*1.8
A typical rotation will give you... 154 (B3) - 295 (T2) - 154 (F3) - 150*1.8*5 (5 F1) - 220*1.8*2 (2 Firestarter Procs) = 2745 pot over 10.2 gcd's, or about 107.6 pot/sec.
So say we do 2 full rotations at 25.5 sec each, that is 5490 pot over 51 sec. If we now throw in 3 Firestarters, so 220*1.8*3 = 1188 over another 7.5 sec, we get a total of 6678 pot/min.
OR we can continue with the normal rotation, and on average we would get 107.6*60 = 6456 pot/min.

So... 3 free, on demand Firestarters every minute! Sounds SOOOO OP right?

6678/6456 = 1.0344... So OP that it adds a MASSIVE... 3.4% sustained dps...

IMO, this would be a perfect BLM buff.
Slight increase in sustained ST dps, but provides strong, on demand burst, and can be used efficiently for movement phases.
Imagine, you KNOW that you will have to dodge for a good chunk of time, soon... Go into AF3, use all 5 F1's, save your FS procs, then when you have to run, you have 2-3 FS procs on hand, and ANOTHER 3 if you need to KEEP running.

Recap: Bit more sustained dps, on demand burst, can be throttled to compensate for general mobility issues.
Done and Done.

Everyone is asking for retarded surecast buffs, and I'm just sitting here wishing Firestarter and Thundercloud procs were off GCD like Bloodletter and Misery's End.
