If you don't mind having no stats, you can really confuse people in PvP too.

There are actually dated items for whose models haven't been used at all in V2. Version 1's tabards have no chainmail under them unlike V2's so make a nice casual piece.

Did you screenshot this, or see it else where. If it was you, then you can tell what he glamoured. Examine him, then mouse over the glamoured item. In the tooltip the name will change between the actual item name then the glamoured item name. Just search for that item on xivdb.com and it should help you identify what you are looking for. :)
