Retainer venture question

The max level is displayed on your Retainers Class/Character window (the one where you can equip gear on them). Its in yellow on the top right I believe.

You right i think this is what my problem is, i only remember they saying that we need to have the job unlocked i must of missed where it said you need to level the class too to attain certain levels

Retainers! The answer to alt-characters. Equip them with gear, level them up, swap in better gear, send them out again. One brought back 15 lightning shards & 1% spirit bonded equipment.
