A thought about Races.

I would have to say I am disappointed for the most part.

I can understand that they wanted to make people comfortable coming from FFXI, and there is honestly nothing wrong with it but I did feel it was a kinda cop-out. I was really hoping that since they basically copied all the races from FFXI that they would at least add one or two new races to make people happy who wanted something different.

Ah well...

Races stuck to appeal to hardcore FFXI crowd.
Game elements to appeal to casual crowd and piss off hardcore crowd.

Flawed Logic.

I was excited to have the races from FFXI back. They remain the only thing that keeps me playing at the moment.

I would have loved to see some additional races with them though.

I guess that's mainly because I didn't play FF XI, but at least I saw some screenshots and videos, and they really are the same. But I don't care, if they plan to implement new races in the far-off future I'm all fine with the ones we have now.
Although I'm never able to remember the right way to write "Roegaedyn" (or whatever they are called) at all.

I think you just take the e out, roegadyn. Otherwise that was the best misspelling of roegadyn I've ever seen ^^ My boyfriend was a galka and loves his red roegadyn with a white beard, everyone called him santa at the xmas event.

I like the races. It means they put eorzea in the same universe as ffxi. They did the similar races because they wanted to make it like ffxi but fix their mistakes. Which in some cases they did but most didn't get it, and cried. They made the similar races so anyone from ffxi can come here and make a similar character. Or in a sence remake their character. I do not like the ivilance (or w/e) races. They seem to anime cliche to me. (bunny girls... really.)

Being able to recreate my FFXI was actually a huge plus for me. I like them keeping the races. As other a few more races would of not been bad... but for me at least the races I see as a huge plus.

Setting is similar? Far from it actually.

Also they're pretty hard pressed race wise as long as this is a numbered entry into the FF series -- They can't use Ivalice races because that's it's own world and time that spans even two different game series.

Or even if they created new races entirely for this iteration of the FF series...
