This is probably the same as the chocobo whistle & the Coeurl Bell. You use it, it's gone, but it's opened up an action/ability.

Aetheryte Ticket
Players in possession of an aetheryte ticket when using Teleport will not incur a gil fee.
This item will be consumed upon use.
I think it's less in line with "Players, in possession of an aetheryte ticket when using Teleport, will not incur a gil fee" (which gives the allusion that it'll be consumed when teleporting) , and more with "Players in possession of an aetheryte ticket, when using Teleport, will not incur a gil fee".
Being "in possession" of an aetheryte ticket probably means "consuming" it; similar to how minions work.
In french it says
Billet de transport urbain éthéré
Avec un billet de transport sur soi, il est possible de se téléporter sans dépenser de gils.
* Objet consommable.
Which would basically mean that the item is like the minions or whistles. Use it once and reap the reward forever. Kinda OP but kinda great for vets too.
*puts out GM signal light in the sky*
We need you!
You're wrong. It's exactly how minions work. You use it for the first time, the item becomes consumed and you have the minion forever. When using this item, it will go to your General actions menu where it says all teleportation costs are free. When it says you have to have the ticket on you when you teleport, simply means that it's part of your permanant traits. It's like getting an airship pass.
Edit: three other people above beat me to it.
Not so sure about this. The airship pass was not a consumable item; I'm not even sure it's a key item. We were just granted that privilege after a certain point in the 2.0 storyline. I can see the Ticket acting like a minion or companion that is consumed and then available at any time to you, but they should remove that last sentence stating the item will be consumed upon use. This leads me to believe it is a 1 time item.
Sounds odd. I think I have 3 more days until my 180 day subscription renews so I should find out then I suppose. Seems like it would have made more sense to make this item allow free teleporting sometimes (once an hour or something) as a permanent feature. Removing the cost entirely seems odd unless SE is taking a more active role in destroying the economy now?
I may be wrong, but i prefer a more straight forward interpretation. When I consdier a more literal interpretation it makes more sense that its a one time use than it being used like a minion. I don't think they intend to give away free teleports forever just because you played for a year. It would eliminate that entire money drain from the economy, it would eliminate the entire point of have favored aetherytes, it would make older players the "teleport b***h" in all parties. I understand how you could try and read it that way, but I'm doubtful this is the effect they intend to have on the game. Aslo, as others have stated the airship pass didn't have a usable item. Using that as a precedent I don't think this is an item that will give us an autopass for teleports forever.
I'm laughing at all the people that actually think the one year veteran reward would be a free one time teleport..hahah...haHA...HAHAHA! OMG!!!
Maybe it unlock the option to pay teleport with anima
