That seems to be the way many MMO's have gone in regards to trials. If you convert them to a paid subscription before the trial ends, then you don't have to pay for the software.

As for the OP's question, and to clear up a few things, yes you can register both a PC and PS3 (and I'd assume PS4 once released) version of the game to an account and get the 30 days free each time. Be aware that these will NOT count towards Veteran Rewards so you'll be a bit behind this way. You can also apply the Collector's Edition for any version and have access to the items that it comes with.
