Disappointments and regrets of FFXIV

But see, none of this was in FFXI in the JP launch. We the people that got XI for the US launch has an expansion to catch up to. An game where the money was established on the AH's. This is a new game with 1 patch under its belt. I don't disagree with everything your saying but there is nothing saying drop you party and rebuild it leaving out who you think DPS sucks or you can ask them to leave. In FFXIV, yes somethings are just handed to you but I don't have time for a game like FFXI anymore.

So do I. It's just nothing to do because everything is faceroll easy and all their dungeons suck horribly. They need to increase the difficulty level and add some open world content. All you do is log into Toll, stand there and que up for everything. Whatever happened to actually traveling to the dungeons?

I agree with many of your points. As a tank I do a good job and coils is where I am tested most of all. I am stretching for allaghan gear as that feels more of an achievement personally.

A lot of the reasoning behind the points the OP is trying to make is reaching... very far. While some of them might be somewhat valid, it's basically generic complaints that don't serve more than the obvious when you defend them with subjective accusations as irrefutable fact. It's as though you believe that any negatives, no matter how small or subjective they might be, is undeniable proof that the entire product is a failure.

For starters, your mentioning of FFXI and claiming it didn't force people to group with "everyone" as fact is extremely far from true. That's probably the biggest flag in that entire post. Unless you were one of the largest and active LS groups on the server, chances are you needed to pug or merge/arrange stuff with another LS. Just to clarify, bringing in random people (or friends of friends) to help do something like Dynamis makes them essentially a "pug". I get that you were likely referring to daily roulette and CT, but seriously? Just those 2 things, one of which is nothing more than a mere bonus to doing content you can otherwise experience with just your pre-made, is not much of a worthwhile mention. Especially when you consider how they said it's just a temporary limitation to not be able to form a full alliance for CT. Personally, at the very least, I think the grouping point should be taken out of the post.

Yeah, PS3 players are so bad...oh wait, I can do anything a PC player can, and most often I'm doing it better. No system lag even on Titan EX (often, I'm the only one able to dodge 100% of the time in PFs...) and if you played with me, you'd never know what system I play on. But "Oh no! and extra 5 seconds to skip a cutscene is too much!"...except that I've seen a bunch of PC gamers that have worse loading times than me...wait, that can't be right...

PC elitists make me laugh...I see them all the time in PF making overgeared groups to carry them through content, and blaming everyone else for their failings.

The fact that the OP is a PLD (class with the biggest egos bar none) makes me laugh more.

This person is really close. Im not saying just hold out, if you want to have a different piece of content to run for an entire week, then wait for an expansion. As you did in the NA for FFXI. Come on people, the game is 5 months old. NO MMO on the face of the planet is close to feeling 100% complete for 100% of the player base at launch or even 5 months in.

Disappointment

We all know this part is just a opinion for people and opinions vary between people

Yes the upcoming MMOS may be in their standard and they will obviously move to the new shiny and hip MMO like Elder scroll online, Wildstar, and EverQuest next but each one of them is set up to cater to different people.

Wildstar, for example, is like a Rachet and Clank MMO. It doesn't take itself seriously and has plenty of strange comedy. Heck the storyline and Story Quest for the game is going to be set up to be a Rachet and Clank level of comedy and seriousness. It certainly will be fun to play for plenty of laughs.

Then there is also the issue people assume too much and let their imagination run wild often which ruins people's perspective of the new MMOs. In the end we all know people who move to those new MMOs may just find themselves stuck in the same position they were here. Disappointed with what they get in these new MMOs and never satisfied.

My main regret is that the game fails to live up to XI's legacy in too many ways.

I didn't want an XI clone, but rather an evolution of that game - Better crafting, job system, story etc. So far the only thing that's really improved are the graphics and the user interface. The reward structure's better in that it's easier to get gear than it was in XI, but gear is also replaced so quickly that it doesn't matter much. I like the pace of combat better in XIV too, however it just feels rather bland and mindless;

Not that XI's combat was especially complex (the formulas were but the basic principals weren't - stack buffs and react accordingly) but I liked having massive list of spells and abilities to use for various situations. Granted, a lot of skills did become redundant or outright useless at 75+, which is something I appreciate about XIV (very few skills are "useless") however I immensely detest the restrictive nature of the armory system compared to XI's job system. I'm lenient on the story because XI's didn't really pick up until CoP, though even the basic story was somewhat enchanted with all the lore in the world. The quests in this game all feel like one lame excuse after another to explain the fetch quest.

You said what I had been thinking for a while now. Thank you. It is a relief to red this. I hope the Devs read this, because it is true.

For the most part every patch brings hope quickly followed by disappointment. Please SE read the OP.

Edit: Minus the part about PS3 players. I have never had a negative experience with a person known to be on the PS3. I do however hate the PS3 limitations excuses. If it is weakening the game so bunch then remove coverage of it. It is like a disease preventing the game from getting better. At least according to SE.

Pretty much all of his points are valid and true. SE is truly clueless. The recycling of of mechanics, dungeons, and bosses is ridiculous.

To the people that are saying to give it time, it's only been 5 months. The initial release already screwed up many aspects of the game that are going to pretty impossible to fix at this point. The world is pointless, nothing there to explore and just boring in general. Crafting/economy is ruined.
